Three Things A Ring Can Symbolize Without Meaning Marriage

Finding the right ring for your relationship

There are milestones in every relationship: Your first date. Your first kiss. The first trip you take together. All of these are important in their own way, but as Grandpa always told you: When you know, you know. There are so many ways to show your commitment to one another, big or small. One way to signify your feelings for each other is the purchase of a ring. Does this mean an engagement ring? It can, but if you're not quite ready to take that step yet, there are many different things that a ring can represent in your relationship instead of marriage

"I Am Loyal to You"

Whether you've encountered rough times in the past and are rebuilding things or you are simply proud to be with your partner, some couples need a symbol to represent their loyalty to one another. If you're not ready to make the leap to an engagement ring yet, why not invest in one that is beautiful and meaningful in its own rite?

Claddagh

These traditional Celtic rings are stunning and ancient pieces that date back to Roman times and can be worn by both men and women. The clasped hands represent a promise made, while the heart stands for love. The crown over the heart is meaningful of loyalty, of treating the heart with respect, which in itself is a beautiful thing. Claddagh rings come in almost any metal you can think of, and some people choose to put a heart-shaped jewel in place of the heart.

"We Are In This Together"

In the walk of life, it can be easy to fall into the trap that you're not good enough and that you're all alone in the world. If you've got a supportive and loving partner then you should know better: You are never alone when you have someone to walk side by side with you.

Turquoise Stones

One of the oldest precious stones known to humanity, turquoise jewelry has been worn by kings, queens, soldiers and so many other kinds of nobility over the ages. Today, turquoise is associated with friendship and protection. One of these beautifully smooth and soothing stones set into a ring can be a show stopping piece of jewelry — but also a gentle reminder that the pair of you have each other's backs.

"We Will Wait Until Marriage"

Although many religious organizations like to push the idea of hanging onto your virginity until marriage, deciding to wait is not only a religious ideal. It's a very personal decision to make and nobody can tell you what's wrong or right, but making the choice with your partner is the healthiest thing you can do.

Purity Rings

Since the topic of sex is so very, very intimate, your decision to invest in a purity ring is an equally intimate choice. This is not an idea that is restricted to women; many men choose to wear a purity ring too. The design and shape can be anything you want, though traditionally purity rings are emblazoned with the mantra that "True love waits." Not everyone wants their decision to be on display like that, so what it comes down to is the ring that fits you and your personality the best. Some people choose a plain band, others choose a small ring that looks like a mini engagement ring. However the two of you want to represent your choice is the right way.

Even if marriage is your end goal in your current relationship, that doesn't mean that an engagement ring should be the first ring you ever purchase. If you like the idea of a piece of jewelry symbolizing an aspect of your relationship, talk to your partner. There are so many ways to show you love someone, and if you're not in a place to start planning a wedding then knowing that you are loyal and happy together is the best way to be until you can.
