Thirty-Eight, Soon to Be Thirty-Nine
Things I'd love to do as I approach the final year in my 30s
Greetings, Vocal readers and subscribers! In nearly three months, I'll be turning 39. Yes, you're seeing this right. I may not look or feel like my age, but I still feel like my youthful self every year. Whenever I go out, most people mistake me as either a high school or college student. Most often, I look like the latter. I don't mind those comparisons, because I could easily pass off as either one. There's less than six months to go until 2026 comes to a close and this year has been going well for me so far. I aim to end 2026 with a bang. The following is a list of things that I'd love to do before I turn 40 in late 2027.
Attend a Dallas Cowboys Game in Person
I've been a Cowboys fan for over 30 years. Despite this, I've never attended a game in person. Not even when they played at Texas Stadium in Irving or at their current home, AT&T Stadium, in Arlington. I've always watched them on TV, especially on Thanksgiving. Sure, I have a huge dislike of Jerry Jones, but I'll always be a fan no matter what. I hope to attend a game before the year is over. Sticking to the subject of the Cowboys, here's the next item on this list that's been on my bucket list for the longest period of time that I've yet to achieve.
Taking a Tour of AT&T Stadium
Just like the first point, I've never been inside either stadium, but seeing what AT&T Stadium is like on the inside has always been one of the items on my bucket list that I'd love to cross off. According to AT&T' Stadium's website that I recently viewed, there are a plethora of available dates of when they'll offer tours, including during Labor Day weekend, which is what I'm aiming for. I bought a new Dak Prescott jersey nearly six months ago, my first one in six years, so I think I'll wear that to the stadium tour. The 2026 NFL regular season is nearly two months away, so I'm thinking about purchasing a hoodie.
Going to a Concert
In my thirty something years that I've been on this Earth, I've never attended a concert in person. I like different kinds of music, but I mostly listen to pop, rap, and country music. Since I'm from Texas, I would love to go to a country music concert. I've been back in Arlington, which is my hometown, twice this year, with the most recent occasion being during Memorial Day weekend. I'm not sure who I should go see. Please let me know in the comments on some suggestions. I'll only attend a concert at either Globe Life Field or AT&T Stadium, since both are in very close proximity of one another.
Attending a Texas Rangers Opening Day or Opening Weekend Game
In late August, I'll be celebrating 25 years of being a Rangers fan. The first Rangers game that I attended was back in 2001 at The Ballpark in Arlington. It was on a warm August evening and at the time, I was 13. It was such a great experience that it made me a fan of this team that night. If baseball is played in 2027, I would love to go to an Opening Day game. Tickets for that tend to sell out very quickly. I would love to experience that up close. If I'm unable to achieve this, then I'll settle for an Opening Weekend game.
Taking Up Photography
For the final entry on this list is something that I've had a deep interest in for many years. As someone who has done cosplay for 10 years and done many cosplay photoshoots with photographers, one of the things I wanted to do was and is still to photograph cosplayers at different conventions. My experiences with cosplay photographers were positive. If an opportunity comes where a con is in need of a photographer, I'll be more than happy to step in. However, a con has to be in my area. In other words, it has to be less than 20 miles away from home. I want to be able to show off my skills and talents by taking up photography. I hope that dream will come true for me.
