When she was 6 years old, her troubled life began. The youngest of 5 children, the only one closest to her in age was her half brother, who was 9 years older. Her Dad owned his own truck and made a decent living. Her mom occasionally worked, leaving her brother to babysit.

From the outside looking in, they were a perfect family, until the lights went out at night, or she was left alone with her brother. He molested her off and on for 2 years until he moved in with his girlfriend, whom he had gotten pregnant. With threats of violence made against her and her family if she ever told anyone, she kept it to herself.

From the first time he violated her and stole her innocence, until this very day, she often wonders if she is worth loving, and what love truly is.

At 15, she thought she had found love in the arms of a 21 year old man. They slept together, and she didn't hear from or see him again, until she had to track him down through mutual acquaintances when she found out she was pregnant.

Her dad pressed charges against the man and he was sentenced to 4 years in prison for sexual misconduct with a minor. Revealing she was pregnant brought back the memories of being molested that she had done so well suppressing all these years. She couldn't take hiding the feelings and memories anymore, so she finally told her mom. Since her brother was her mom's only living son, he was always babied and catered to, so her mom didn't believe her, although there had been suspicions from her doctor years earlier.

She turned 16 and had the baby, a boy, who she decided to keep because she loved him with her whole heart. She never felt like she was given a fair chance to raise her son herself, because no matter what she said or did, she was wrong. If she asked for help, her mom insisted on doing it instead of teaching her, and she felt like her son was the boy her dad always wanted, instead of her. When she tried to leave and be on her own with her son, her parents called the police and DCS, although she had a job and was financially providing the baby's support, in the eyes of the law she was still a minor and had to return. She eventually relinquished her parental rights to her parents and they adopted him.

At 18, she met another guy that she was completely taken by. She fell head over heels in love with him, or what she thought was love. She quickly found herself pregnant, again. It wasn't long after that, that he began cheating on her, leaving her for a new girl every couple of weeks. After she gave birth to her daughter, the two got married. I don't know if she thought that would change him, but the relationship got worse. The physical abuse began, and continued for a total of 10 years. They would separate, get back together, and do it all over again.

at 19, she had to have a cervical cone biopsy done, the doctors had found pre-cancerous cells on her cervix. The next year, she was hit with bell's palsy.

At 27, she told her husband she wanted a divorce. With their 2 year old son in her arms, her husband punched her in the face. That was the last straw and she never went back.

She met a wonderful man that she was able to trust completely, for the first time ever. They were married a year and a half later, and after 3 years of marriage, he cheated on her. She then kicked him out and he moved in with his new girlfriend, that lived on the road ahead of them in the same apartment complex. She was able to forgive him, but she was never able to trust him again, not completely, not like she did.

In 2012, the same year her husband was unfaithful, she was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder, depression, PTSD, anxiety, fibromyalgia, and a plethora of other health conditions.

In 2019, her dad passed away, unexpectedly. She had never dealt with the death of a family member or someone who meant so much to her. The death of her father tore the family apart. Members of the family changed in ways that made them unrecognizable. She knew it was time to cut off any and all toxicity from her life by anyone that had threatened the progress she had made.

She has grown so much as a person; living with any mental illness is a struggle, but she handles it well. Her children mean everything to her and she now has a grandson with another due any day. She has her beliefs in her chosen religion that help, and she is busy writing a debut novel. She knows that there is something out there for her, a reason she has been through all that she has, and she has never given up.

I love this woman more than anything. Through all the tragedy, abuse, and illness she has faced, two husbands that were unfaithful and one who was abusive and a mountain of people that told her she would never amount to anything, she has proven them all wrong. She has given a metaphorical middle finger to this life and all it's obstacles that have tried to drag her down. She is the strongest woman i have ever known, that woman is ME!
