The train 1908

One chilly winter night, a giant train loaded with goods was ready to chug along the snowy tracks of Russia's Leningrad region. This wasn't just any train ride; it was about to become a heart-pounding adventure that would be talked about for years to come.

The train, known as number 1908, was under the watchful eyes of engineer Eduard, 31 years old, and his young assistant, Alexander, who was only 24. Their night started off bumpy when Eduard accidentally overslept, making him rush to get to work late. Dressed in a suit and tie, instead of his usual work clothes, he seemed like he was heading to a fancy event, not to drive a freight train through the night.

Despite the rocky start, Eduard and Alexander got the train moving. But as they traveled, Eduard began to act strangely. He skipped important safety checks and made decisions that didn't follow the rules. It was as if he was in a hurry, but no one knew why.

As the train journeyed through the dark, it was supposed to stop and let another train pass. But instead of slowing down, Eduard made the train go even faster! Alexander tried to stop him, but Eduard wouldn't listen. The train was now a runaway, speeding through the night with no one able to control it.

Inside the train's cabin, Alexander felt scared and helpless. Eduard had turned off all the ways they could talk to people outside the train, so no one knew the danger they were in. The train zoomed past stations and through red lights, like a ghost in the night.

Then, something amazing happened. At Valya station, a quick-thinking operator had a brilliant idea. He cut off the power to the train's line, hoping to stop the runaway train. The train kept going for a bit because it was moving downhill, but then it started to slow down as it went up a steep hill.

Finally, at 3:45 in the morning, the train came to a stop. Alexander knew this was his chance. He jumped out of the cabin and ran as fast as he could to get help. Meanwhile, the train, now without anyone controlling it, started to roll back down the hill towards Valya station. It finally stopped again, all on its own.

When the police arrived, they found Eduard on the floor of the train's cabin, confused and not making any sense. He was taken to the hospital to get the help he needed. It turned out that Eduard had been struggling with his thoughts, even though he had passed all his work health checks before.

Thanks to the smart thinking of the station operator at Valya, a big disaster was avoided. The runaway train could have caused a lot of damage if it had kept going, especially since it was heading towards a town with 60,000 people.
