The Media Brainwashes You at Every Opportunity

Last night, I watched The Knowing — an older movie from 2009 with the theme of aliens and the apocalypse.

Surprisingly, I did not choose the film, but I enjoyed it, even though I am pretty sure I slept horribly because of it.

As the movie progressed, the lead character, Nicolas Cage, was stressed out. He had just figured out a puzzle, and he knew that something bad was coming, long story short.

At one point in the movie, he was carrying around a bottle of whisky and would pour himself a full cup of whisky or drink from the bottle.

As someone who has decided never to touch the poison again, I found this the most disturbing point of the movie.

Not the apocalypse, not the whisper people, not the aliens, the booze.

It was the only real and tangible thing about the movie we see happen daily.

Then there is Hollywood normalizing that when you are stressed, almost all movies have the main character increase their booze intake.

In turn, making someone who might have a problem watch this behavior being normalized on the big screen. Yes, I know that movies are not real; we all do, but when we have an issue and want justification for our behavior, something as simple as a movie can reinforce that it’s normal.

Hollywood and social media tend to normalize bad behavior.

A few years ago, Muckbangs were popular. Basically, someone sat down and ate enough food to give them a heart attack. I find it repulsive and hope that the trend is over.

Yet anything that is a societal problem is often highlighted on the big screen as standard. It is almost as if Hollywood is in bed with the people who are selling this toxic behavior to those who are easily influenced and manipulated.

When people are sad and will look for justification anywhere, that is where Hollywood and social media step in to say yes, it is justified to have another drink because they get paid by big pharma, big alcohol, and big junk food.

They are all connected, with one primary objective: to poison the people and to make money. This contributes to the health care system, who also only want to make money.

This is why it is so important to have a clear head and mind to see what bullshit every media outlet is feeding us.

At one point in time, propaganda was frowned upon, and then Edward Bernays found a way to make it legal.

I must correct myself. Good old Edward was the pioneer of public relations. So, public relations is nothing but propaganda wrapped in a shinier title.

The first campaign he ran was called ¨Torches of Freedom¨ in 1929, and guess who his target market was? Yep, women are branding smoking as a feminist.

So, how does smoking relate to women’s rights? It doesn’t.

It was all manipulation and propaganda to sell toxins to women.

His plan worked.

The irony is that Bernay did not smoke. However, his wife did; he always tried to get her to quit!

So he knew the dangers, but even his propaganda got his wife addicted.

“Whatever of social importance is done today, whether in politics, finance, manufacture, agriculture, charity, education, or other fields, must be done with the help of propaganda.”

― Edward L. Bernays, Propaganda

So anytime you see the use of cigarettes or liquor in a movie or anywhere, just remember you are the target.

Luckily, since I stopped drinking, this does not work on me; I see so clearly how they want to keep addicts addicted.

This keeps the money flowing and the general population numb to what is happening worldwide. Social media, news, Hollywood, entertainment, and influencers are all used to keep you distracted and to look the other way.

At the same time, the left-hand swoops in and makes major decisions without anyone even batting an eye.

Yes, watching an actor drink too much on TV sent me down a spiral because it was such a subtle act; I am sure Bernays would be proud.

XOXO
