love
All you need is Love, and Love is all you need.
Horoscopes
It wasn't until I met my S.O. that I became the most interested in zodiacs. Up until then, I was sure that the only man for me was an Aquarius because I fell in love with one in the past; the most in love I think I've ever been. The last time we spent together, I wasn't aware that it was the last time. I thought that we would be spending forever together but it turned out that wasn't the case. Lets just say he didn't have my best interest at heart.

Falling in Love When You're 'Too Young'
*(Names have been changed for privacy) When I was in grade 9 I fell into my first real relationship. I'm not counting the previous occurrences in which I would date the same boy for a week whenever he felt like it. I'm counting my first real relationship, like the one where I didn't get dumped a week later. It started because I became really good friends with this boy named Carter* and we would always hang out at this afterschool program that was five minutes away from my school. We went to different schools which weren't particularly close or particularly far from each other, but still it was sometimes a hassle to meet. When I met him he had been very happy, he was doing chalk drawings on our sidewalk with me and we listened to music because we felt too old to do the activities inside, plus it was spring so why not? That day I thought I understood his personality, but it wasn't until we delved into the friendship further that I realized I was in fact, wrong. 15-year-old me was an undiagnosed ball of depression and anxiety. I had the terrible habit of hurting myself over little things because I was really sensitive and my friends often weren't. To speed this up, I learned through exchanging messages that he was the same, except he didn't have anxiety, he was just very depressed and suicidal. Even as a 15-year-old I was drawn to mental illness. I found it interesting because how can the human brain make us this way? To this day it still fascinates me and I've taken Psychology classes to learn more about it. Anyways, I soon realized I was developing a big fat crush on the sad boy.

Is Romance Dead?
As I’m laying here in bed at 5:23 in the morning I can’t seem to quiet my mind on one simple subject. Is romance dead? I guess the answer would depend on what you believe is romance. When I was younger I watched movies, read books, and heard stories of these grand romantic notions that make woman swoon and fall madly in love. You’re told romance is flowers, kissing, gifts, and open displays of grand affection. I believed in that for a long time and like most woman, to this day, have a soft spot for it, but I see things in slightly different light.

Love: In Its Truest Form
Let us begin with my favorite Greek mythology: That of Baucis and Philemon. Oddly enough, I first encountered this myth within Mary Pope Osborne's retelling in the book Favorite Greek Myths. How often does a fifth grader encounter a story that continues to impact him into his mid-twenties? To simplify the story: Baucis and Philemon were a married couple whose love, compassion, honesty, devotion, and service allowed them to live forever as a "great oak and linden that grew from only one trunk."

Love Me in the Morning
I heard the knock on the door. I froze like I didn’t expect it. I had been waiting for hours, preparing. I stood up and walked slow enough that a second knock was necessary. I’m not sure why I’m moving so slowly or why my heart is beating so fast. Maybe it's because I know I still love him. I get to the door, take a deep breath and open.

Purple Hair and Hookups
I look at her. Her hair; dyed purple and pulled back into a high bun. Her collarbone marred with bites I had just left, her lips curled tight around the cigarette she needed to smoke after sex. She is sprawled out on my bed, amidst the mess and the chaos, the blanket pulled up past her waist, smirking at me.

Elephants Roam North
Something happened. One night, as I came out of my local supermarket, something amazing happened. “Hey, kiddo, got a light?” said a low voice said behind me. The voice lightly put his hand on my shoulder and turned me around to face him and his friends. Both sat on a bench, and a space between them where he had presumably been sat.

Is Standing by Someone You Love Worth It, Even If It's Wrong?
The conflict of being in love with someone that goes against your values is a mind game that you play with yourself. You end up having constant conversations with yourself, creating a pros and cons type of chart in your head but still coming to one conclusion, does being in love with someone outweigh their immoral compass? Or are you giving them a pass because you're making your love towards them a weakness?
