friendship
C.S Lewis got it right: friendship is born when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one!"
When Your Best Friend Surprises You/How to Create New Friendships
The most awkward thing that can ever happen to you is your best friend trying to surprise you; you know when you hate surprises but they still try to do something nice for you? It's still a surprise even though you know who it's from.

When Money Stopped Being Funny
I won't bore anybody with the details of the history of the monetary system itself since that content has been widely available for some time now. What I want to talk about is a fundamental shift in how we view our economy where everything is meant to serve us as divine human beings, rather than feeling like we are slaving away to earn small amounts of ever-depreciating currency. At the end of the day, money is just a thought in our minds, some numbers changing on a screen, and a few coins dropped into the hat of the man busking on the street.

Always On Her Toes: Chapter 1
Dance, Karli, you’re depending on this show, I thought. I sighed, waiting for the music. I was dancing Lyrical today. The song was Dancing Queen by ABBA. It was seventies week this week, so I went with Lyrical. Lyrical was sometimes really easy and sometimes really hard. I’d contemplated not dancing, but if I was absent without an excuse, I’d be kicked out of my Dance School. If I didn’t dance, my PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) would kick back in. That surely wouldn’t be a good thing. Winding up in the loony bin is NEVER a good thing.

Time To Say Goodbye
I met my best friend my freshman year of college. We were part of a larger group of friends who were so close we were practically inseparable. During second semester of that year, two of our friends studied abroad, so the rest of us bonded even further to cement the foundation of our group. This was the semester my best friend truly became my best friend.

I Was Eleven
I was eleven with the body of a sixteen-year-old. The hormones raging through my system mimicked what I looked like on the outside. I was the perfect storm. I was the perfect target. I was coming into womanhood and trying to find myself. There were plenty of guys willing to show me the way. One in particular just decided to be all too aggressive about it. He was the step-brother of my best friend at the time, Harry. I hardly knew anything about him except that he seemed a like a goofy teenager. I just wish it could have all remained fun and games.

Nothing to Fear, Everything to Love
When we get right down to it, there are basically two things possible in the lives of every human being. We can act from fear, or we can act from love. It can seem a lot more nuanced and complicated than that, but the essence of every thought and action can be traced to either of these two polarities.

Rainbow Girl
I didn’t see the rainbow girl for quite sometime after that. Christmas came and went, as well as New Year. My grandparents Olga and Delio came to visit, and so did my brother Marco and his boyfriend Neri, so I didn’t go back to Portugal for the holidays.
