The Weather in Our Heads
Several years ago, Mark and I stood outside an old brick theater downtown under a heavy autumn sky, waiting for doors to open for an indie band we both adored. My memory of that evening begins with misery complete enough that every detail seems preserved by discomfort. Rain came down hard enough to soak through my canvas jacket and chill my skin, while Mark laughed about missing the bus and walking four miles during the storm. I remember propping myself against the building, holding a paper ticket that had begun to dissolve in my hands, and wondering why we didn't just call a cab. In my version, forty minutes passed as a long exercise in suffering, with both of us desperate for shelter and regretting every decision that had carried us into that alley.

Where Paths Overlap
All encounters and partings are not predetermined; rather, they are the result of the soul’s probability field. Life is not a pre-written chain of cause and effect, but a constantly shifting field of possibilities. No one is destined to arrive, and no one is destined never to leave. Who we meet, the relationships we build, and when we part ways often depend on the probability distribution shaped by our current knowledge, identity, abilities, choices, environment, and state of mind.
