Finding Love in a Mission
I remember arriving early on that very first day, walking around the entire city-block building looking anxiously for the Blue door I was to enter in from, and as I walked through the arches and colonnades of the dreamy spanish style architecture, I finally saw two sharply dressed men leave the lively lit cityside to swing open both sides of that big blue door...I had finally found it, but in my timidity I held my breath as I neared; it was now time to be confident. I look through the windows to see a crowded hallway and a line forming to clock-in from afar, before the door again flings open as a man with a headset exits, I enter and can feel the last draft of wind as a warmth then surrounded me. That quickly turned to slight panic as people started surging through me from both ends and I suddenly realized I don't know where I am or where I’m going, that is until I noticed I had passed a podium on my way in with a security detail sitted behind it. “Hi, I’m looking for Duane’s, it’s my first day and I’m not quite sure where to go” I said anxiously, “ok you’re going to go past this hallway and you’ll find the kitchen where you’ll go all the way right to find it, she said”.

Masquerade
I can’t imagine what tonight will be like in a room full of people with human features hidden behind purchased faces. Just the idea of it slightly freaks me out. I’d been invited to many of these masquerade balls a dozen times in the past. I would usually decline because there always seemed to be something so cynical about people wearing fashionable facial expressions. I mean, for me there’s absolutely nothing entertaining about it.

There's Always Time for Wine
Elijah Elijah sits nervously waiting for his date to arrive. He scans the menu, glancing towards the door often. He checks his watch. He tries to relax his arms away from his body, noticing that his armpits are beginning to sweat. He loosens the tie around his neck and grabs his water, glancing toward the door once again. Just as he is thinking he's been stood up, a woman's voice startles him from behind.

Still Single
Still Single The screen showed a young man smiling at the camera with perfectly white teeth. His clean shaven face coupled with his strong jawline made his sparkling smile stand out even more. But what stood out the most were his soft golden brown eyes that seemed to gently whisper, “That’s right, I’m the one you’re looking for,” to any woman who came across his profile.

A Fine Wine is Hard to Find
I swirl the half-empty glass of Merlot cradled in my hand while my date, Mikey Jones, continues to drone on even though he’s long since lost my attention to the barely preferable ambiance of the Italian restaurant, with its flaking red vinyl booths and white-draped round tables, the tacky ivy and faux grapes encircling tan shutter windows that stand out against the mottled black-red carpeting and walls. I wonder what I’m doing here as I look back at Meathead Mike, his glass still heavy in his hand.

This Is Fine
Thirty-five minutes early. He stared blankly at the pooling mess. This is fine, he thought, except it wasn’t. The only image in his mind was that of himself engulfed in flames, slow-roasting on a spit over a cackling fire, the terrifying Renaissance painting-esque imagery underscored by a cacophony of excited snorts from little demon piggies that were, at present, dancing around the fire pit in anticipation of their supper, hellish glee abound as they bopped to and fro on their tiny hind hooves.

For the Love of Wine
It was the big day. You know the one where you have decided to do what another may prefer for the mysterious blind date? Such as the commonere of painted finger- nails, well groomed, trying not to have splattered paint spats randomly here and there on my arms from my night before indulgence of creativity just trying to eliminate some of the before the date jitters. Especially, if I conjure up the courage to wear the shoulder less shirt that I thought was cool in a vintage kind of way but, felt like a lining back in. Wow, do I seriously want to go through this just to try and meet someone who can concur with me sometimes against odds? Let us not forget the wine factor as well. That will tell me a lot about this fellow. It is not about the drink of the wine. It is about understanding the concept that the wine needs and deserves a special environment depending on its mood and like me it is prone to random acts of mood swings. With this said, observation of the tiniest non-verbal act had to be one of their academy awards, everyday virtue. If not let us hope on their honorable act of solitude. Meaning to embrace the wines company, despite their lack of emotional conception of others around.
