Share Your Light with Others

Because sunshine is better than rain

We cannot underestimate the power of sharing our light. A warm smile. A gentle embrace. Be patient with someone. Simply, hold the door open for the person behind you. In even small ways, we can share our light.

Positive or negative, our energy is contagious. What would you like to share? What would you rather see more of in the world? Light or darkness? It starts with you.

We each carry both. In yoga, we cultivate our inner light, to shine even brighter on the darkness within ourselves and it extends out into the world. Human beings are so powerful. We are interdependent energetic beings. We have the power to create. Each one of us is affecting the whole of humanity, whether we are aware of it or not.

Consider how you are using your energy.

Are you consciously aware of it? Are you in tune with your inner being, so that you can respond to situations rather than react? Who is driving your vessel? Is it the testy ego? Or your gentle spirit?

Aha. Enter the pause.

The nanosecond before a reaction where one can stop, and choose how they will respond, instead of reacting hastily. A part of our personal development is cultivating the space for this pause. It is a subtle action, to simply stop and pause, but the rewards are great.

Practice makes perfect.

The more we practice anything, the easier it comes. In yoga, we polish the proverbial dust off our inner being so that we shine bright. We understand that this light dwells within the heart of all. The more compassion, kindness, and acceptance that we show ourselves, the more we readily extend goodwill toward others. What we feel within, is what we put out.

Human beings sometimes feel negative emotions.

This is normal; this is fine. But how we unpack that is what is important. People feel various emotions for all sorts of reasons. We should understand that all emotions are transient, fleeting. But actions have lasting consequences. In every interaction with another person, we choose what kind of energy we put out there. Likewise, we are aware of the way someone else’s energy is affecting us. This is where we harness our power, to understand and transform.

Choose how you show up.

Decide to be a light. Decide to be sunshine on a cloudy day. Take good care of yourself, in body, mind, and spirit, so that you are ready to be a warrior of the light. Once you have cultivated your own inner light, your cup spills over, and you will easily and naturally be a torch for others.

How do you want to leave people?

You want your presence to be a gift, not a curse. You want others to feel that way about themselves too. Leave people feeling better. That is all. One must strive to maintain his/her light, dignity, glow, in the face of all situations. So that when you walk away, you feel grace. So you give, so shall you receive.

It’s a huge give-and-take in this interrelated world that we are all living in. To understand that every thought, word, and deed carries energy is to understand how great our personal power is, to hurt and to heal ourselves and others. We are each bouncing our frequencies off of each other, impacting one another to various degrees.

We never know how much a smile, a kindness, a complimentary word might mean to someone. Take the time to offer light in these simplest of ways and feel the shift in the frequency. It certainly does not hurt. In fact, it is a win-win. You feel better, and the person you were kind, patient, generous to, also partakes in this good energy that you are consciously spreading.

The idea is to be conscious of the energy you have inside you, take good care of it, be a friend to yourself, practice yoga and meditation, or any other form of holistic self-care. Polish yourself up, and then help others to polish themselves up too, through the vibrations of love and light.

We are here to reveal more light, within ourselves and in the collective world at large. Feel free to share your magnificent light in all of its brilliance and glory! Lightworkers make the world a brighter, more beautiful place. Keep shining.
