No More Bullying

Today in honour of making everyone aware that it is better to love, not hate. To be kind, not cruel. To do acts of kindness, not walk away.

Back in the early 1900’s I was told this story of a very young and beautiful bride. Travelling across the ocean with her family as a young child, she was terrified of what was yet to come.

Growing up with very strict Scottish parents, especially her dad. Whenever you were told to do something, you listened, you respected without even taking a moment to thinking about it.

The punishment for not obeying was what we would call abuse today.

Intelligent, yet went to a one room school, she only made it to grade ten. Times were tough, the war was going on. Depression at its worst.

Both her and her sister worked in a factory sewing every day. The pay was next to nothing, but she did her best to help her family in anyway.

Falling In Love

Her sister and her loved to dance. Every Friday night they would go to a local tavern.

The music was amazing and plenty soldiers would come in, great place to hear stories from all over.

It was in this exact tavern that she fell deeply in love with her soon to be husband.

In the beginning he would pick her flowers from the fields. Treat her with respect and love. Dancing often and we’re so in love.

Not having much ,but a small cabin they made the best with what they had.

With his job taking him on the road for long periods of time, she kept her home tidy, still worked at the factory and visited with her family often.

It was not until than, the not knowing where her husband was. Not even getting messages from other co-workers returning, as to where he was, made her start to be concerned.

Unbelievable

He had finally arrived home, food was on the table, the cabin was clean. Yet there was not enough alcohol in the world for him to drink. He even had taken up a nasty habit of smoking.

The more he drank the meaner he got, and he became a nasty bully to his wife.

The wife couldn’t wait for him to leave, he ordered her around, get me this, bring me that.

Finally when he went off to work, she ran to her mother. Beaten, sick asking her mom if she could leave him, he wasn’t the man she married.

Her mother looked at her with disgust. “You made your bed, you stay in it!”

That she did and every time he returned it got worse.

On the six child, she finally had enough.

Taking all the children, she travelled far away and he would never find her again.

This is a true story and although some things are changed a wee bit, this was the only way she could survive and protect her children.

True Facts

When I was reading today about the meaning of wearing pink shirts . They actually stated that one in four are actually bullied in our Country.

That totally breaks my heart. ♥️

As adults if you are in a relationship where you are being bullied, seek help. You deserve a much better life. You deserve to be treated with love and kindness.

Kindness is taught at home with our families. It is so important to teach one how to be kind, not bully or allow others to bully you.

Not one person deserves to be harmed mentally or physically in anyway.

Know the signs, reach for help. Communication is key and know how to get help. There is always help for both the bully and the individual being bullied.

Love is kind, make everyday a day filled with love in your heart for others, but most of all for yourself.

Teach the young.
