You may wonder, my dear, is there really such a thing as negative reading or negative reading? Is there something as beautiful and powerful as reading, and has side effects or even side effects? The answer is yes, there are things you do not know, or you have decided to turn a blind eye only to them.

Unfortunately, although reading is a very powerful means of increasing information and educating, in addition to being a means of eliminating boredom and getting to know the minds of others through lines and words, on the other hand, it is a means of self-destruction.

In this article, we will talk about the harms of actually reading, or negative reading and its side effects, trying as much as possible to adhere to impartiality and objectivity, without slandering the reading itself.

Negative reading spoils the soul before the mind

Reading overall is a very beautiful thing, and one of life's countless blessings indeed. But if reading involves negative thoughts, unfortunately, it will quickly become a curse, even if the owner does not know it in the first place.

The negative thoughts I am talking about are not always negative, they can be positive for some even, so it all depends on the psychological state of the person. If you are depressed, for example, do not read a work by a melancholy Russian writer, this will put you in a worse psychological state than you already are. Conversely, if you are happy or in a normal state, reading melancholy works will make you sad, yes, but it will not get you to the point where you have bad thoughts.

Nor is negativity limited to dark ideas of death, nihilism, and the defilement of human beings, no. Negativity is also associated with hostile ideas that some writers may present in the form of religious advice or human development. Like hurting someone because they do something you don't like, or bullying your classmate just because he's shy in class.

Reading for those who desecrate the sanctities of bodies and souls is not reading with the aim of educating and acquiring knowledge. It is reading with the aim of descending into an abyss that has no resolution. And believe me, if he descends into that abyss, you will be equal to the animal. Because the difference between us and the animals, is that we are already covered in urbanization, while the animals are still fighting in the dirt.

Too much reading burns nerves

You might think the term "nerve burn" is too cliched and too repetitive, but hey, it's true, my friend.

How many times have you read a very genius novel until you find yourself moving your body only to go to the toilet and then come back? How many times did you start reading at one o'clock, and suddenly it was six o'clock and you were in the same position, holding the same book?

Many times of course, and this is simply due to the effect of reading, its magic easily seizes your heart and mind, forcing you to submit to it to the end. Unfortunately, this amazing magic takes a toll on your nervous system. After a full five-hour reading session, you'll find that your eyes are burning, your body is exhausted, and a headache may already be knocking on the doors of your skull. Then the long reading will become a nightmare that you never wish you would come across.

So try to take a break between class and class, or when you're feeling down, leave the book and mark where you left off, lie on the couch or bed a bit, and read again after you recover.

On the other hand, a long reading calls for burning off a lot of caffeine and nicotine. Since reading consumes a lot of my calories and forces me to focus intensely, I am required to consume at least three cups of concentrated coffee while reading.

Compulsive hoarding is a major side effect

The reader, by nature, loves to read, that's normal. But for a large portion of the readership, reading transcends the limits of knowledge, and is suddenly associated with the texture, roughness, smell, and even the prominence of ink on paper. I'm not going to lie, I'm one of those people, and I hope to quit this habit.

Compulsive hoarding is buying books you'll almost never read in your life, just because you liked the cover, or the book is cheap. Suddenly you will find in your library tens of dozens of books belonging to categories that you do not like at all, but they were undoubtedly tempting when you bought them.

And in the end what is the result? Yes, exactly as I expected, hundreds of books that take 10 times your age to finish. This burns money that you really need in other aspects of your life, but decided to prefer the books to it. As a result, when you desperately need money for something important, you will regret it, and wish you had distributed the money logically, giving everything its due right from the start.

Feeling false arrogance

This side effect may not be present in most segments of readers, but it is undoubtedly present in some of them.

When a reader is newly introduced to the world of reading, he or she begins consuming novels, and then gradually transitions to informational books. After reading 10 books, for example, he begins to realize that there are seas of knowledge that he has not touched throughout his life. Finally, after sipping a few of those seas, he was proud and arrogant, saying, “I am an intellectual, I am a genius!”

This empty vanity is the result of what we find on social media these days. This matter is embodied in those who engage in any discussion, and sing to read this book or the novel in public, while being careful to despise the opinion of the other party simply because it does not appear to be the form (the culture) they love. It is that form that consists of photographing a page of a book next to a cup of coffee, writing a deep sentence, then publishing the picture, closing the book and sleeping in peace.

Immersive reading causes autism and introversion

Unfortunately, immersion in reading causes introversion and isolation from the world.

The interesting thing about novels, for example, is that they are an open, unrestricted, and unlimited world. You can sit with any writer in the café, and listen to him tell his story with the utmost calm and frankness. And you can pay the account and leave the writer if you like, there is no kind of punishment here.

For many, reading represents a safe and pleasant place, a place far away from the pressures of reality filled with societal stigma, anxiety, and people who refused to develop and remained in their condition. Of course, because this place is safe and pleasant, sitting in it becomes more and more tempting with time. Until a person becomes introverted and unites with those imaginary worlds, and forgets that there is a real world outside.

As a result, when he (forcibly) comes into contact with the real world, he acts strangely. I was like this, I was afraid to speak to others, my heart beat soared if I looked someone in the eye for just a second, and I remember my knuckles trembling instantly when someone spoke to me.

But with time, I was able to balance my social life with my leisure life, and reading became an entertainment and educational means in my life, and it did not become a substitute for real life as it was before.
