dance me to the end of love. - leonard cohen

i am mostly grateful that i am alive,
and when i’m not,
i remember this life i’m living doesn’t last long.
as such,
i tend not to rush around anymore,
i typically enjoy the ride,
and i don’t feel compelled to prove myself to anyone (including myself) anymore.
though this life often appears to be such a serious endeavor,
it really is all just a game we’re playing.
and when i jump in and play — with fearlessness, joy, curiosity, and wonder — i believe i am at my best.
and that is that.

the
human
herd
full of hatred
and hope
and heresy
and hypocrisy
and humor
proceeding with a hunger
in the midst of the hysteria
towards some hostility
that hovers habitually
whether we hug
or hit
such a humbling paradox this human herd

there is a longing,
a purity,
to the soul of a dog
and how they unconditionally give their self.
asking nothing of the moment
but your presence.
and in that asking,
if we take their offering,
we are set free;
in love and under her loving spell we happily reside.

there’s a projector showing images on the cave wall everyday,
and it’s the illusion that’s being sold as the real.
the question is:
will you take the false for the true,
or will you
walk out of the cave and into the light?

there’s this misconception that we can change the world.
we can’t.
sometimes we can change ourselves,
and in so doing,
the world changes.
but to direct our focus on the ‘world out there’
as the means to effect change,
is to walk blindly in the forest of delusion.
if you care at all,
and i’m not saying you should,
but if you do,
care about working on yourself,
and let all the rest be.

life is what it is.
there is nothing to be done about any of it.
realize this and set yourself free.

basic shits run the world, and we let them.
what does that say about us?
sure, some of us shit spotter’s can see it, but what good does that do?
clearly, the basic shits are still doing what basic shits do, and almost no one is refusing to play along.
again, what does that say about us?

i’ve taken drugs.
booze. cocaine. marijuana. ketamine. heroin. acid. dmt. peyote. ecstasy. mushrooms. uppers. downers. the list goes on.
and yet, reality still remains a mystery to me. but one thing i have learned while under the influence, is that the reality we’re taught to believe is real, is only a tiny fraction of the story.
i’m not advocating the use of drugs. in many instances they are not appropriate, and even harmful. but i was someone inclined to alter my consciousness in as many ways as possible, so a part of that was to intentionally indulge in the use of drugs.
i had lots of fun. i had some intensely challenging experiences. but all in all i’ve no regrets. and lots of positives came out of these experiences.
i hardly imbibe these days. the occasional joint or couple of beers is about it. but, on occasion, if the mood strikes me, i’ll jump onboard a trip for old times sake, and i’m still amazed at the mysterious and magical nature of existence every time.

i was asleep
before the womb.
then I stirred through me
and i was born into form.
lucky me,
those who bore me
loved me.
and that lovely foundation
was the soil
for my awakening to the illusion
thousands of days hence.
and one of the many things this awakening taught me,
is that those who think critically,
who question the ‘official’ narrative,
are a threat to the system.
be a threat.
one more thing.
shine your light, and build a bridge, peace and love is where the courage is.

my oh my.
this one took me a long fucking time to understand.
but once i did.
i was free in a way that i had never been before.
liberated from my suffering.
damn it was euphoric.
let go.
go with the flow.
its all part of the show.
once this you know.
love will have no choice but to grow and grow and grow.

sure.
fear has it’s place.
if i’m being chased by a lion.
or a murderer.
or i’m screaming down the highway on my motorcycle at 100mph.
or i’m lost in a nightmare.
but in most instances.
fear just keeps us from doing or being who we could be or do.
funny thing is.
when i really pause and go into the fear i’m feeling.
it loses its hold on me.
i am able to recognize that fear is just a feeling.
not a fact.
and that simple shift.
makes all the difference.
and sometimes.
i’m just afraid.
and that’s ok.
