Natural forces were redolent of sweet cherries
Bird songs swiftly swallow up the impressionable void within, enabling me to walk and breathe amongst the nature I love so. I feel at one with myself, free of judgement, demands and responsibilities. Free-flowing through a range of smell sounds and the occasional face. Preference being more towards wildlife; however, I will not shy away from hello and a smile. I often diverted from the trodden path full of curiosity and intrigue. Inner feelings would guide my journey; we all get that ‘feeling’ we shouldn’t or should be somewhere.

The flames of candles that sit on the rows of dinner tables emit a warm glow, as jazz piano music set the level of elegant ambiance behind the sounds of clanking cutlery and sophisticated chatter in this French restaurant in the heart of London. At the rear bar of the restaurant, Lance awaits and observes the layout of the building, from the red carpet to the antique furniture as the waiters glide around the socially distant tables. He sips his straight whiskey whilst adjusting his earpiece. The light from the bar bouncing off his short jet black hair and shining onto his blue two piece Giorgio Armani suit.
Ash GallopPublished 3 years ago in HumansThe strangest date I've ever had.
Staring into my reflection in the resteraunt ladies room I examined the ageing lines on my face and sighed. I was 15 minutes early for a first date with man I had been chatting to on a Dating app and I had finally gotten the courage to meet with him.

Down the hallway and up the ramp. Take a sharp turn at the quad. Now look for the stone bench in the bushes near the statue of Aristotle. At last, there it is.

“Where’d you meet him?” “At the dog park,” I responded “Well, if that isn’t the perfect meet-cute to start a passionate love affair, IDK what is,” Monique said dryly.

After this pilgrimage, she came to stay in Village Nadir, on the eastern banks of that river, at sunset, for several days. While there she rested; taking tea with the sisters lazing in almond blossoms’ shade in the mornings; stretching her weary joints outside House Jerepigo, where widow Jornada worked, at times a seamstress, at times a scribe, in the afternoons; meditating in the spare room of the retired motel on her growth in the evenings.

Cabernet Red. How fitting, I thought, as I dabbed at the lipstick I’d just messed up. Again. I could use a glass of that right now.
The Challenges of Wining and Dining

Karen is an ad executive for a prominent ad agency in LA. Since the start of the pandemic she has been working remotely. As an empty nester who has been divorced for the past 10 years she decides to use her new freedom to travel with her beloved merlot. Her daughter went to the military 3 years ago after college. A typical day for Karen before the pandemic was her going to her favorite bar for rush hour after the office. She would chit chat with the barmaid Becca and have a bottle of merlot. 5 glasses are equivalent to a bottle. 20 years of Karen's life has been devoted to raising the phenomenal daughter of hers. The marriage failed after Karen caught her ex cheating and she hasn't been able to trust men ever since or have the time to pay them any mind at all being a single mom and business executive. Merlot has been dependable and reliable throughout the divorce and the parenting. Karen had her life all set and balanced as far as she knew. She had frequent girls night. She worked out regularly and ate well. She is in great shape and her plans on becoming after becoming an empty nester was to travel and open her own café. However work gave her a raise and demanded more of her time so she just stayed stationary until the pandemic. Due to her daily meditations she had absolutely no fear at all. She was mindful to support her immune system and take regular tests to confirm her health but she was ready to live her best life. So Karen mapped out a year of travel. She packed her merlot and set to taking advantage of the cheap airfare and resort charges. It was great for Karen on her 3rd trip to Florida she was at the poolside enjoying merlot while working her laptop when a tall guy walked straight up to her no mask and said " is that merlot in your glass?" She looked up and up...he was very tall and replied with a slick remark "no it's pinot noir". Then she went back to her work. He casually went and sat about 5 chairs down and pulled out a bottle and poured some of his own merlot. Not another word was shared between them that day. However Karen noticed that he would come down the same time each day and do the same thing , pour his merlot and work on his laptop. She never seen a guy have such similar habits as she had adapted. This made her curious, was he an ad exec too? or was he on social media? was he gay? She had a lot of questions in her mind. After the 4th day of observing his actions she had a long talk with her bestie in the evening. Her bestie suggested that she ask him what he was doing if she seen him again by the pool. She also assured Karen that not all men were cheaters. So Karen decided to take her best friends advice. She walked up to the guy after he was settled for about an hour at his normal spot by the pool. She asked him what he was doing. He explained that he was an author and he was working on his latest novel. She confessed that she was in fact enjoying merlot and the rest is history. He literally has a home 20 mins from hers in Montclair NJ. They see each other often and do almost everything together. They work out together, go do weekly tests together and drink merlot together. They also travel and a year later they are still going strong. Karen and her beloved merlot has a third wheel, Jack. The three can be spotted all over social media although you may not see merlot in all the pics. Be assured merlot is always there and the three of them are always having a great time together.

It happened over a beer down in Havana Cuba. In a smoky hotel bar that was dirty marble floors and patched up wooden walls. The guard from the hotel I called home patted me on the back. I bought him a beer. We began to talk over a drink through cigar smoke and two people from different worlds found out they weren't so different after all.

‘The place is nice, I’ll give Emma that..’ I thought to myself looking around the restaurant trying to spot a quiet corner or delicious window view, I arrived early more out of anxiety than excitement. Dating was not my strong point and it definitely wasn’t something I enjoyed, but here I was on a gloomy afternoon hunting the perfect first date spot for a blind date.
