There are important lessons in these relationships

In the realm of relationships where the noble titles of twin flame and soulmate dwell, the karmic relationship gets a bad rap but is it deserved? All relationships help us learn and grow. Some just do it in a way that can be painful and challenging. To be fair even the best relationships have areas that are challenging, but the karmic does present the most difficult path.

I have been doing intuitive readings for over twenty years, I started out with friends and family and eventually became a professional reader. Through my time as a reader, the most common thing people ask me to look into for them is love.

Over the years I noticed that some relationships were karmic, others could be classified as soulmate or twin flame. I observed that most people will go through at least one karmic relationship, if not more, in their lifetimes.

What is a karmic relationship?

To be karmic means that you have known this person before. Think of karma as memory, it recalls something or someone you have known before. It means you share some type of past history with this person.

The karmic relationship is often challenging because it typically is going to bring up issues for both people. This may result in insecurity, jealousy, bad boundaries, emotional unavailability, poor communication, and misunderstandings.

Not all karmic relationships are toxic, but many are. Most are somewhere in between. The karmic relationship helps the couple see what they need to work on before a healthier and better match can come along.

How is it different from a soulmate or twin flame relationship?

Any type of romantic relationship can have some type of karma. As mentioned above, it means that there is memory between the two people, of lives shared before. The purpose of this life is to pick up where you left off.

A karmic relationship can often mean you are meant to heal something difficult that happened before.

A soulmate relationship, means you share a strong bond of love, and usually where you pick up is from a place of love. It doesn’t mean it's perfect, we go through a lot with our soulmates and we may have some things to heal as well. It means, however, the couple is looking to build in this lifetime, on the strong foundation they already established from other lifetimes.

A twin flame relationship will often cause the pair to see wounds and patterns within so that they may heal them. A karmic union can be mistaken for a twin union because of this. It’s important to remember that ultimately, the overall feeling of a twin flame union is soul love. It’s a very different feeling than a karmic union.

What are the signs of a karmic relationship?

Strong draw to one another

Uncertainty

Feeling out of balance, as if you aren’t on the same page

Highs and lows

Communication issues

Doubts, is this the right relationship for me?

Emotional unavailability

Lack of support (in any way possible)

Controlling or manipulative behavior

Judgment, jealousy, defensive behavior

Conflict

When it’s karmic, there can be a strong draw to one another, so it feels like it is a big thing. Yet, despite the draw, there are a lot of things between you that don’t match up. Some days are very good, while others can feel downright awful. You may feel misunderstood, unheard, or as if you can't be yourself around this type of partner.

Uncertainty is one of the biggest signs it is a karmic union. It leaves you with doubts as to whether this union is healthy, right, and worth all the effort.

Karmics can come on fast and strong and the initial draw can be so strong that if you go too fast you may find yourself in a marriage or living situation too soon. That can make it hard to get out of. Always go slow in love, so you don’t over-commit yourself before you truly know the other person.

There are important lessons in a karmic relationship

A long time ago, I noticed in readings the term, “stepping stone” relationship was coming up. This was my first understanding of the karmic relationship. Its descriptive title tells the purpose of the karmic union. It is a stepping stone along your path of love. Meant for growth, release, healing.

If you notice you have a pattern of karmic unions, take time to reflect. If you find yourself in a pattern there are lessons that you are not learning, this is why the same kind of partner keeps coming back.

Think about each relationship you have had, what have you learned? Sometimes we don’t learn the lessons until ten or even twenty or more years after a relationship. Especially if you jumped into another one right away. Once the lessons are learned, you are able to move on to something healthier.

Karmic relationships teach us about ourselves more than anything. They give us insights into how much we value ourselves. Who we choose to spend time with is a reflection of who we are. Who we decide to give our hearts to even more so. Spend some time with yourself, reflect, what can you learn right now from your experiences in love so far? The answers will bring you important clarity.
