Some people, especially women, need, crave, and desire emotional turmoil. Most women feel insecure, unconfident, or want attention, so they start drama to lessen their negative emotions. Drama queens are high-conflict personalities who thrive on attention given by other people. They are fierce, dogged, and often provocative. They can turn a small argument into a big issue. In the case of Drama Queen, peaceful solutions are hard to achieve.

Here is a fascinating point to get noticed: not only ladies but all genders can behave like a drama queen, or you may say a drama king or a dramatic male. Here are some identifying traits of a person with a dramatic personality:

  • Attention seeker
  • Super picky
  • React with emotions
  • Constantly comparing
  • Obsessed with personal looks
  • Criticize everything
  • Never apologize
  • Stressing out
  • Post everything on social media

Attention seeker

A person with a dramatic personality loves to be the center of attention. A drama queen is an overly attention seeker. They try too hard to look different and unique. While in a social gathering, a drama queen is the one who wants all the concentration of others. If someone tries to grab their attention away from them, they view that person as their enemy. They crave the spotlight at parties and even on regular days at the workplace. The reason behind this is they may be insecure about the personality characteristics they possess, which causes them to explain their worth to others and need to prove themselves.

Super picky

They are super picky or choosy. When you eat out with the drama queen, you may have noticed that they ask too many things before ordering something. They spend extra time choosing a dish from the menu. When you are with that kind of individual, try not to visit a new restaurant. They are so picky that if you have a menu with a hundred items on it, such a picky person probably only likes one or two things out of a hundred. If you go to ten different clothing stores with a wide range of clothes, the drama queen may only find a single shirt. Besides food and clothes, they can be picky in choosing friends.

Emotional reaction

Reacting with emotions does not always mean sensitivity; it may be for seeking attention sometimes. There is no drama without emotion, so a drama queen responds with emotion. Everything appears to be emotional around a drama queen. They often cry over something menial. Although crying is healthy and reasonable sometimes, crying in front of someone to get attention is their favorite job. In the same way, they laugh out too loud at the little regular things to get noticed. They are good at making faces according to their feelings in certain situations.

Constant comparison

Comparing ourselves to others is a healthy activity that makes us feel competent and keeps us motivated, but sometimes comparison turns out dangerously envious. Many of us do not like it when anyone compares us with other people, whether on the winning side or losing; comparison makes many of us feel not too good, but drama queens do compare themselves to others most often. A drama queen always makes comparisons about every aspect of their life to others so they can create some drama. They explicitly boast about their qualities and achievements.

Obsession with personal looks

A dramatic person thinks an easy way to grab people’s attention is through extraordinary looks and a perfect body. And a drama queen is obsessed with the way they look. They look at themselves in the mirror over and over again. For them, it takes at least four to five hours to get ready every day. To look beautiful and ideal, they wear makeup the whole time and always want a perfect dress. Do not be surprised if a drama queen has a touch-up kit prepared in her purse all the time. No matter if they are already late for a party, they do not go outside until they are completely ready. Deep down, they have a fear of being judged.

Criticism about everything

A person with a dramatic personality is never satisfied with anything around them. They always feel that there is something wrong with everything, so they criticize a lot. Each time you give them a cup of tea, they complain about less sugar or cold. They do not criticize to always make others ashamed. But they do so to get the attention they need. They become angry in no time, so a person with a dramatic personality starts criticizing others to relieve the negative emotions.

Never apologize

No matter how deeply a drama queen hurts you, they never apologize. Apologizing is one of the most selfless actions an individual can do, so expect that from somebody who values you. A sincere apology is quite a big challenge for a drama queen. Sometimes, they may feel sorry for their mistake, but it is unlikely to be genuine. Usually, they do it only to get themselves out of problems, or simply, they want to create peace with you so you can start giving them attention likewise.

Stressing out

Constant worrying is their slogan because they are not a drama queen without the drama. Most often, you see them surrounded by anxiety, however, superficial things like failing to respond to an email can direct them to stress out rather than discovering a solution. Accidentally pour water on their clothes, and rather than waiting for it to dry, they will freak out about it as if someone poured some hot tea on them.

Post everything on social media

Their private life is out on social media, and there is no need to ask them how everything is going. Or what are you doing nowadays? It is not a matter of care but because everything about them is out for display on social media. Whether it is a unique dress, newly cut bangs, or a job promotion. They never miss a single moment updating their social media timeline. They also upload selfie after selfie between all those routine updates.

A person with a dramatic personality personalizes every single thing going on around them. A person’s unique hair dye becomes their comparison, and a person’s achievements become their competition. A drama queen always sits on their fictional throne. They believe they are an emperor who sits on a throne and demands tributes from the people. They wish the world would spin around them; everything has to happen for them. They may not admit they are acting selfishly, since they feel the demand to fill the void of attention. To avoid full-time drama and become a better person, a drama queen needs to see things from other people’s perspectives.
