It Is Never Fun being Ghosted, But Learning How To Deal With It Is Important

What Is Being Ghosted?

Ghosting is a term used to describe the sudden disappearance of an individual following a period of little or no contact with the person being ghosted.

It can sometimes be ambiguous as to whether or not an individual has been ghosted. Still, it is typically noted if there has been a drastic change in communication frequency with this person.

Ghosting most commonly happens between two individuals who are romantically involved or have had romantic feelings for one another previously.

Why Do People Ghost?

Ghosting someone may seem like the easiest way to break up and move on.

But it can also be done to hurt someone just for the sheer fact of hurting.

Ghosting leaves people wondering what they did wrong and what might happen next.

Building trust in a relationship can be challenging when one person disappears without explanation.

Couples who have been ghosted may feel insecure about the other person's feelings or wonder if they will return.

Why Does Ghosting Hurt?

Ghosting is one of the most common reasons for relationships to end these days.

It's also one of the main contributors to breakups. Ghosting occurs when someone (usually a dating partner) goes completely dark on the other person, not responding to messages or calls and ignoring all contact attempts without explanation.

This hurts because people want closure; they want to know the truth behind what happened, if it was an accident or if they did something wrong.

It is hard to imagine that someone can seemingly disappear from someone's life.

Imagine how you would feel if you were ghosted after having a lot of fun and great conversations with someone, or if there was a spark that you thought could turn into something more.

It is important to remember that your time isn't wasted, and it's not wrong for someone to want to go their own way at some point.

Rid Yourself of Blame

We all have a natural tendency to blame ourselves when something goes wrong, but it doesn't need to be that way.

We often live in a perpetual state of hyper-responsibility in the modern world, and we feel like we need to do everything for everyone. However, we can break free from this mindset and find relief.

The first step is to acknowledge the possibility that the outcome may not have been due to your actions and, in some cases, is completely out of your control.

Get Rid Of Shame

Shame is a powerful emotion. We all have it, but it is not always constructive. When shame arises, it can be crippling and keep us from being our best selves.

Shame is something that takes root in the self-critical thoughts that are constantly running through our minds.

We are constantly looking for ways to feel better about ourselves, but it is often difficult to find any good qualities when we are constantly evaluating ourselves.
