Hey

For those of you who don’t know me yet:

Hey, I'm Jo.

I'm stumbling toward Heaven.

I come from not your average family. 3 brothers, 2 sisters (yes, all from one set of parents) and 2 sisters-in-law. At least one sibling in above. My best friends are my husband and siblings. And I adore my nieces and nephews.

I have green eyes which is like 2% of the population or whatever. I have a gap in my teeth (which is like 5% of the population). And did I just make up the statistic on the gap teeth? Yes, yes I did.

I'm convinced some of the best things in life are humor and chocolate. And to any who label those as unhealthy coping mechanisms, I say: laughter is good medicine and chocolate comes from a cocoa bean which grows on a tree which means it is basically salad. I know, it's a stretch. But stretching is exercise. And exercise is healthy.

Speaking of humor, my mom once told me I should be a stand up comedian, but I have a bad knee so I guess I'll have to stick to sit down comedy.

I have to admit to having no experience in the writing industry. Well, actually there was that failed attempt at a detective story entitled Illegally Brunette, about a woman who gets her hair colored and then mysteriously dyes (see what I did there?). Why, you ask, was this story a failed attempt? Because I literally came up with that idea just now. It does make an interesting premise though. Hmm... might have to think about making it happen! 😏 (yes, I know how to spell “dies”)

Shallow conversations bore me and make me uncomfortable, but I will have them if it means getting to know someone else better. Because then we can delve into the deeper stuff.

I don't often feel like I know what I'm doing, even if it looks like I might.

I'm a splash of sassy, a razzle dazzle of girly, a mudfling of tomboy and a hop skip and a jump away from being absolutely loony. I used to hate myself for all of the above. Heck, a lot of other people looked down on it too or just found me as a complete enigma.

It's been a tedious, heartbreakingly beautiful journey to get here. But now, I rather like to take my place as the mysterious, creative yet analytical, friendly yet shy observer in society. So much of it has to do with my husband who loves every nook and cranny of my whimsical heart. He's a gem.

Dad jokes, movie quotes, music notes.

Chocolate truffles, dresses that have ruffles, clouds that look like little puffles.

Making up words, making up stories, making up desserts.

Walks in the park, making sparks in the dark, the songs of a lark.

Fourwheeling, stealing [kisses from my love], looking appealing.

Hiking, biking, and kayaking.

Road trips, salsa and chips, having curvy hips.

Cats, Kentucky Derby hats, and love pats.

Love stories, war movies that aren't gory, and giving God the glory.

Spontaneity and surprises.

Singing in the shower, pushing a mower, and picking flowers.

Ultimate frisbee, photography, and philosophy.

Historical fiction, dancing in the kitchen, and snitchin' [food].

Emerald green, people who are anything but mean, reminiscing being a teen.

Popcorn kernels, Filling journals, and learning more about the eternal.
