Self compassion, that's a heavy one huh? It sure is. We are all so hard on ourselves and others. But we really shouldn't be and here's why. I read this quote just now from a book called The Universe Always Has A Plan By Matt Kahn.
The quote reads:You didn't do anything wrong and neither has anyone else, we are all on a journey let us show love for each others processes. That's deep huh? It sure is! Basically what the quote is saying is that, we're all on a journey in this thing called life. Nobody is doing anything that isn't according to the universes plan for them. So when you look at it that way, it's more freeing because we get so fixated on what is the right or wrong thing to do in life. We need to have compassion for others and understand that we are all on the same journey called life. While the journey may look different for everyone it's still a journey. We may have great times and we may have bad times. We may have times that will change us for the better or sometimes the worse. Sometimes we have to learn things the hard way and we have to have compassion for that. We have to hold space for that and forgive ourselves for the times we've messed up and forgive others for the times they wronged us. Because the thing is in that moment we thought we were making a mature, adult decision. We thought we were making the best choice for ourselves or others. But in the end it wasn't a good choice. We need to forgive ourselves for that. Because if we don't it will end up hurting ourselves more in the long run. That could cause some serious damage to our mental health.
Sometimes we beat ourselves up over things that happened in the past or present. And we can't do that, why? Because we all make mistakes. Nobodies perfect. So having compassion for ourselves and understanding that we all do things we aren't proud of from time to time is a much healthier approach to life. We need to forgive others who've wronged us as well. In that moment of messing up, they thought they were either protecting you or themselves. Maybe it was a hard situation. Giving someone compassion is a much better way to look at life. Sometimes we have to take the bigger picture and understand that in that moment they thought they were making the right choice.
So how can we show others and ourselves compassion and forgiveness? We need to find common ground with people and realize that in the end we're all connected through the law of devine oneness. That law states that we are all connected through the universe and everything we do helps to balance things out. So we all have a purpose for everything we do as does everyone around us. We need to take that into consideration when we exist because without one action the universe can't function properly. We need to have compassion and forgiveness for others and ourselves. We can't live in negative energy and distrust. Just the simple act of seeing things through the eyes of the other person might change the way we look at those around us. We might be softer and more patient with each other. We might be more compassionate and kinder to each other. There's no reason to hold grudges because at the end of the day we only end up hurting the most important person in life us.
