Coffee Chats
The inside of my brain this beautiful Sunday morning
Sunday morning rain is falling and I'm calling out to you

Singing, "someday it will bring me back to you", yeah
Join me in having a cup of coffee (or whatever beverage you prefer) this beautiful Sunday morning. I am currently drinking a cup of cold coffee that I could probably reheat in the microwave, and sitting down at my computer to write something for Vocal. It's one of those quiet and slow Sunday's where I have no real plans of leaving the house. I can just sip my cold coffee and simply be a person.
I have spent the last week furiously journaling and resting. After a severe writer's block from creative burnout and general life stressors from the past year, I can safely say I do feel my spark returning to me.
I am still recovering from my latest surgery, but I feel incredibly grateful for the people that are in my life right now. A friend of mine brought me a bouquet of flowers the other day. That gesture meant a lot to me. My fiancé has also been cooking most of the meals this past week and giving me some much needed rest and relaxation time. I also started binge-watching my favourite comfort TV show, Orange is The New Black on Netflix. I love how funny the show is and how real the characters feel. I have just spent the week resting and actually allowing myself that rest, guilt free. That doesn't happen often for me.
Creative burnout feels awful. I was so stuck on my novel idea that I started back in November 2025, and I couldn't focus on anything else. I worked so hard on that idea/concept that I wound up blocking my creative side for a while, and focused on healing and the daily grind of life. Back then, I was also working two part-time jobs over Christmas-time, and I just felt stretched thin.
This past week, I have fallen in love with daily journaling again. It made my mind feel clearer, the physical act of putting pen to a paper was soothing, and I feel like my ideas are flowing again and whatever was blocking me creatively has been dislodged from my brain. I also could attribute this new-found focus on writing to starting new ADHD medication back at the end of May, but it feels more authentic to say that my spark is back. And, I am hoping to leave a legacy behind for my grandchildren through my journals. I know, wishful thinking, However, that single thought process has motivated me to keep going and to keep putting words out there again.
The point of this ramble of mine? There is no dramatic way of saying a caterpillar has turned into a butterfly. I was in a cocoon for such a long time, but metamorphosis is quiet. The amount of strength, and growth that I have experienced this past week- was astronomical to me. But to the outsider looking in, I was still me. I was still the same girl from last week. I got my wings though and wow are they ever beautiful. I also am not letting anything stop me from flying.
So if you feel stuck in life, whether it be with your job, your hobbies, your relationships, etc... I am here to remind you that you're not alone and you're probably just in a cocoon at the moment. Don't worry, your time to be a butterfly is coming.
Thank you for having coffee with me this morning beautiful souls of Vocal. Keep writing and turning the page of your story. You never know where your next thought or chapter may lead you next.
