"On paper" is a commonly used idiom, which means that it only stays at the theoretical level of books, lacking practical experience and actual results. The origin of this idiom can be traced back to ancient China.

According to legend, during the Spring and Autumn Period, there was an official named Meng Changjun in the State of Qi. He was good at negotiations and political struggles, and was known as the "Oriental Wise Man". Once, he discussed military issues with several other officials, all of whom were civilians and had no actual combat experience.

Mr. Mengchang put forward his own opinions, but other officials were not convinced, thinking that what Mr. Mengchang said was just talk on paper and had no practical feasibility. Meng Changjun was very angry, so he made a bet: if his plan can be successfully implemented, then others need to apologize to him and agree with him; if it fails, he will apologize to everyone and accept punishment.

Later, a war broke out in Qi State, and Lord Mengchang followed his own plan to command, and finally won. Other officials had to apologize to him and admit that his plan was correct. Since then, the idiom "talking about war on paper" has been handed down.

The story of Meng Changjun is not only an ancient legend, but also a great educational case. It points out many important things: how to apply theoretical knowledge in real life, why practical experience is as important as courage, and how to achieve better results at work and in life.

First, Meng Changjun's story illustrates how theoretical knowledge can be applied in real life. At that time, the problem Meng Changjun faced was not a purely military problem, but a complex problem including war, politics, diplomacy and other factors. Meng Changjun was able to propose a highly feasible plan through his theoretical knowledge and deep insight, and finally won the victory. This tells us that only by establishing practical experience on a theoretical basis can we truly solve complex problems and promote social progress. At the same time, we should also pay attention to the combination of theory and practice in the learning process, and apply knowledge to real life.

Second, Meng Changjun's story also shows that practical experience is as important as courage. There is no doubt that Meng Changjun's theoretical knowledge and wisdom are one of the key factors of his success. However, without practical experience and courage, it is difficult for him to succeed in actual operation. This is why other civil servants are reluctant to accept his proposal. Therefore, we should focus on practice, constantly improve our practical ability, and be brave enough to face challenges and solve problems.

Finally, Meng Changjun's story tells us how to achieve better results in work and life. We should follow the principle of combining practical experience with theoretical knowledge, accumulate practical experience, discover problems, and solve problems on a theoretical basis. At the same time, we also need courage and determination

It should be said that practice is more important than theory. Each of us must pay attention to practice. The success of things lies in practice, not in theory.but theory has a certain guiding effect on practice, and the two are interdependent to succeed in the end.

Theory and practice are closely related, and the two promote and complement each other. Theory refers to the abstract generalization and regular description of a certain thing or phenomenon, while practice refers to the accumulation of experience and verification through exploration and experimentation in specific situations.

The relationship between theory and practice can be summarized as follows:

Theory is the guidance of practice, and practice is the test of theory.

Theory can not only guide practice, making practice forward-looking and predictable, but practice can also verify and revise theory, making theory closer to reality. Only by combining theory and practice can better results be achieved.

Practice needs theoretical support, and theory also needs practical verification.

Practice needs theory to provide ideas and methods. For example, when solving specific problems, we need to think and analyze according to logical reasoning, induction and deduction. The theory also needs practice to verify its correctness, making it closer to reality and more reliable.

Theory and practice promote each other and jointly promote social development.

Theory can enlighten people's thinking and motivate people to continuously explore new knowledge and technologies. Practice can put theory into practice, so that it can be continuously improved and developed in social practice, and promote social progress and development.
