Beauty is Certainly in the Eye of the Beholder

Mathew Dean, short man with a slight build always had a deep affection for big bodies. The bigger the more beautiful. Being twenty-three, five foot three weighing in at one twenty-three Mathew always searched for ways to make his self bigger, if not in size then in stature. Photos of bodies he thumbed through developing a fetish for mounds of flesh. Stretch marks covering pounds on a corpulent cutie is what he loved to see. He saw their folded skin as his rotund canvas where he might create the most impressive masterpieces.

Mathew fancied himself as a photographer so he began promoting himself as such. He placed ads in the local newspaper and posted fliers around college campuses. He allowed the vanity of the youth to be his motivator. When he met with the young ladies he informed them that he was an up and coming aspiring photographer building a portfolio. So proud would he be to have a unique figure and face such as hers to dawn the pages of his book of photography.

He didn’t choose what he loved, plus sized women. Neither did he shoot the model types, six feet tall wearing a size three dress. No, Mathew chose to photograph the girl with the average body but cute face. She might be a little lumpy by not severely overweight. He wanted girls with somewhat lowered self esteem who would be honored just to be in front of his camera. His intentions were pure, purely selfish and self serving. He wanted them to have some body so that he might build on it, and build on it he did.

Jill Jacobsen modeled for Mathew during the spring. She was referred to him by a girl who lived in her dorm. Jill was somewhat apprehensive but Mathew was quick to put her at ease. Beauty flowing from inside out is what she possessed according to little Mathew. Jill was a true American beauty representing what true American women looked like. She was the American poster girl not these unrealistic images of women shown in the media daily.

A week after the shoot Jill returned to look over the proofs and was not exactly happy or flattered by what she saw. It would seem that Mathew shot her from all of the worse angles accentuating her flaws rather than her shooting her from her best side. She was not happy and did not want the photos used, not even for his portfolio. He grudgingly agreed if not only to get her to leave his presence. Jill left, disappointed and dejected. She wished that she had never stepped out of her comfort zone and allowed Mathew to shoot her.

Six months later Jill received a phone call from the same girl who introduced her to Mathew. She had some distressing news for Jill about a photo she saw in a magazine. She called Jill over so that she could see for herself. At first Jill didn’t recognize herself because her body was so different then she realized. That little twerp Mathew had distorted her picture to make her look heavier. It was a plus model magazine advertising clothing for larger women. Jill most certainly did not agree to that.

Jill was beside herself with anger and sadness. She felt so violated by the little man as well as duped. She couldn’t wait to make him pay for his transgressions against her. Weeks later she stood in small claims court pleading her case to a judge. Mathew, the respondent tried to plead his case as well; unfortunately you’d have to be a fool to believe it.

The judge was not amused by Mathew or his act. She could clearly see that the photos had been altered drastically but still had Jill’s pretty face on top of the body. Mathew eventually made the judge down right angry when he claimed to have never altered the photographs. Jill was suing for fifteen hundred dollars but after hearing Mathew’s lies and seeing the horrible affect this experience had on Jill’s life, the judge decided to award her far more.

Jill was awarded the maximum the court could allow. Mathew was forced to pay her five thousand dollars. He was also ordered to cease his “photography business”. Jill was encouraged to contact any other victims he might have to make them aware. She also asked Jill to please have them file a claim against him and she would be more than happy to hear their cases in her court. With that being said, court was Adjourned and Mathew’s short career as a photographer came to an abrupt end.
