An Instagram post- @budhwrites

It’s been a fat second since I last posted here.

There have been days which involved no writing and others with no thinking. Just like a professional writer with seasoned thoughts and expressions would say, ‘I have been living the life of a true artist. With none to say yet much to express. My subconsciousness has been over-active and I’m looking forward to the overflow of my pot of literary treasure.’

For those of you who aren’t following me on instagram, I find it my duty to catch my readers with what I’ve been working on.

Ever Since I posted my last blog, there have been some sudden changes in my plans and projects. In the past two months I have been focused more on reading than writing and that’s mainly why there has been such a delay in posting on Vocal.

Apart from reading, research has taken a lot of my time. Finding deeper meanings, multiple usage patterns and choosing the correct frame for certain ‘powerful’ words, has been on my agenda for this summer.

  • ‘She Wins Society’ has been a great inspiration for me to stay dedicated and motivated in my fairly new world of stories. Telling your own, thus finds a sweet spot in everyone's heart. Nothing is more powerful than reality. My last two blogs for SWS have been on my parents (individually) which gave me a strange sense of optimism and ‘woke’ me to grow despite all odds.
  • ‘Woke’, has then been a word of careful consideration. My thoughts were scrambled when it came to this dynamic word which constructively demonstrates multiple emotions, thoughts and meanings in varied situations. I, personally use the word with a positive reference towards being aware about the inequalities prevailed in our society, gender discrimination and status bias. With our evolving culture and traditions, this word has become very important in discussions and debates, focused on finding the fine line of disparity and social issues within a society. I have used this word a couple of times and plan to use it in all my further writings (if and when needed). The simple meaning of the word ‘Woke’ refers to ‘alert or injustices in the society’. There were a lot of articles, blogs and dialogues published last month in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. which brought light to this word. Woke is the power that guides our human race to the hope of balance, equality and respect. Use it effectively.
  • Keeping the spirit of ‘blogging’ alive, I also mentioned in one of the captions of my instagram post that ‘online writing’ is indeed the best practice for any writer. There have been times when I have been too afraid to share my thoughts, moods with my friends and have secretly put my work online, in the hope of honest criticism and healthy feedback. And it has worked. It’s been a game changer, for me and for my creativity.
  • The research on ‘tradition’ and ‘culture’ were scaled to a different level as the correlation and differences grew a stark observatory change in my perception of life as a whole. I compiled a few insights from my reading about the true meanings of the two terms which facilitate our roots and captured the essence of the matter into well curated captions for my instagram posts. • In literature, as in culture as a whole, T.S. Eliot believes in the tremendous importance of tradition. Tradition is largely unconscious, as is the culture which comes from it, but Eliot believes that a 'sense of the past' or "a sense of history' is essential to culture. 'By losing tradition we lose our hold on the present.’ Therefore, we should be as conscious as possible of our tradition. The literary tradition - an author writes for her audience, and to have any significance at all, she must be understood by that audience. But as Eliot mentions the problem faced by the writers: ‘For whom am I writing?' To have any significance you must have readers. In the literary world, without the discipline and basis of common tradition, (between the writer and the reader) struggle for meaning becomes sort of impossible and leads the writer to lose almost all social significance. Literary development is closely bound to the development of the society and culture of which is a part. So, know who you write for. I find it interesting to read, watch and conclude that the standards of 'Culture' are lower than ever before. And the evidence of this decline is visible in every department of human activity, as suggested by T.S. Eliot. Culture is a product of a variety of more or less harmonious activities, each pursued for its own sake. This brings us to understand the definition of 'Culture' which associates differently according to the development of an individual, a group or a class and of a whole society. The culture of an individual is dependent upon the culture of its group or class and the culture of the group or class depends upon the culture of the society it belongs to. This leaves the culture of the society as Fundamental. The more we drift ourselves away from our roots, the weaker our culture gets.

This was a quick summary of all that I’ve been working with, researching on and curating. Getting back into the mode of being consistent.

Keep writing!
