An Open Letter to the Ensnared Fanatic: In Surrendering Your Reason, You Find the Mob, Not God

Dear Friend,

You consider yourself the ultimate protector of your religion, your faith, and your God. You believe that your aggression, your anger, and your loud slogans are saving your religion from imminent destruction. I am writing this letter to you not with hatred or anger, but with deep compassion and a rational concern. Because when you wager your rationality and your humanity in the name of religion, you are not actually defending your faith you are simply becoming a cog in a blind, unthinking mob.

If we pause for a moment and look at the world through the rational and humanist lens of visionaries like Tathagata Buddha and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, we realize a profound truth: fanaticism is not the peak of religious devotion; it is the absolute death of the human intellect.

Does the Almighty Truly Need Your Weapons?

This is the greatest irony of fanaticism. You believe that your God or your religion is supreme, the omnipotent creator who governs the entire universe. Yet, in the very next breath, you act as though this all-powerful creator is so fragile that He requires you to take to the streets, incite violence, or take another human being's life just to survive.

Is this thought not inherently absurd? If a supreme force can run the cosmos, is it so weak that it needs your swords, your abuses, or your rage for its defense? The truth is, you are not protecting God; you are only protecting your own ego – an ego that manipulative power-brokers have cleverly rebranded as "religion."

Appa Deepo Bhava – Be Your Own Light

Tathagata Buddha gave humanity one of its greatest rationalist frameworks in the Kalama Sutta. He essentially said:

"Do not believe in anything simply because you have heard it, or because it is spoken and rumored by many, or because it is found written in your religious books. Do not believe in anything merely on the authority of your teachers and elders. Test it with your own intellect, and if it aligns with reason and benefits humanity, only then accept it."

Fanaticism assassinates this scientific temper. It strips you of your fundamental right to ask questions. It terrifies you into believing that if you question your faith, you are committing a sin or inviting divine punishment. But a true, rational mind knows that the truth is never afraid of questions. A religion that forbids you from asking questions is not a religion; it is mental slavery.

The Dark Well of Bhakti

In his final address to the Constituent Assembly, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar issued a grave and prophetic warning. He stated that while 'Bhakti' (hero-worship or blind devotion) might be a path to the salvation of the soul in religion, in politics and society, Bhakti is a sure road to degradation and eventual dictatorship.

Fanaticism is the most dangerous mutation of this blind devotion. When you surrender your intellect at the feet of a religious leader, a political ideology, or an ancient dogma, you devolve from a thinking human being into a puppet. Dr. Ambedkar firmly believed that religion is made for man, not man for religion. The sole purpose of religion should be to elevate human morality, to teach Pradnya (Wisdom), Karuna (Compassion), and Samata (Equality). If your faith is teaching you to hate other human beings, you do not need to change your religion you need to change your perspective.

The Mob Has No Face, But You Do

When you are swept up in the wave of fanaticism, you lose your individual identity. A mob possesses no logic, no science, and no compassion. It is driven purely by blind frenzy. But remember, when the fires of hatred finally cool, it is not God who suffers the loss; it is humanity.

For a moment, look away from your scriptures and look directly into the eyes of the person you have been taught to hate in the name of religion. You will find the same flesh, the same blood, and the same quiet pain that resides within you. As Buddha taught, hatred is never appeased by hatred in this world; by non-hatred alone is hatred appeased. This is a law eternal.

The Time to Awaken Is Now

This open letter is a call to action a call to break the invisible chains forged around your mind. Use your intellect. Embrace a scientific temper. The world will not be saved by miracles, magic, or blind faith; it will be elevated by science, reason, compassion, and constitutional values.

Make religion an instrument for your personal moral refinement, not a weapon to subjugate others. The day you take off the heavy glasses of fanaticism and begin to see a human being simply as a human being, you will no longer need to search for God in a temple, mosque, or church. On that day, you will have truly understood the essence of Buddha and Ambedkar.
