5 Accessories to Give to Your Best Guy
Gift Ideas for Your Significant Other
Men can be very difficult to buy presents for. Either he's the guy who has everything, or he's the guy who doesn't want anything, or he wants some incredibly obscure thing that you're going to need to budget for. When it comes to off-the-cuff presents, there just aren't the same go-to gifts that are generally acceptable for women. Of course you can buy him flowers or jewelry, but there's no guarantee that it'll be anything other than a quirky joke. Here's a list of five easy presents that your guy friend probably either hasn't bought for himself yet, or he could stand to have more.
Throws
Going into a man’s apartment is sometimes like entering a barren wasteland, devoid of all softness. Your male friends and relatives may talk a big game about creature comforts, and good luck prying them out of that one chair they love so much, but God help you if you’re chilly and want a throw blanket to put around your shoulders. Pillows and blankets can be the gift he didn’t realize he needed. Wonderfully soft fleece fabric comes in all patterns, including his favorite sports team.
Money Clip
A money clip is a slim and stylish accessory with universal appeal. Small enough to fit in a pocket, sturdy enough to hold cash and cards, and stylish in gold or silver. Money clips are a great go to gift for the man in your life. Look for ones with a monogram or a logo if you want that extra personal touch. It isn’t something he’s likely to think to buy for himself, but it’s something he’ll likely love and use every day. If you end up buying him one, and he already has one, don’t fret. It never hurts to have a spare.
Man Bag
Another item he’s unlikely to buy for himself is a bag, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t need it. Not everything can be stashed in pockets, and there are plenty of things that really shouldn’t be stashed in pockets. Whether it’s small sized to accommodate a wallet, or that money clip mentioned earlier, or a larger bag that can double as a briefcase or laptop bag, it’s a useful item that he’s bound to use. Consider a leather bag for the most stylish and durable accessory, or canvas if you’re looking for something lighter weight.
Sunglasses
Sunglasses are another stylish accessory for men that he’s bound to appreciate. Look cool and be kind to your eyes at the same time. You can’t go wrong with the classic aviators or a retro tortoiseshell look, and there are many different options for lenses. Whatever style your guy likes, there’s a pair of sunglasses to be the crowning glory of his aesthetic.
Grooming Products
Grooming, hair care, skin care, and scents are also things that the man in your life probably doesn’t buy for himself. At the very least, he doesn’t buy them for himself very often, or doesn’t spend extra money to get the really good stuff. Men rarely take time to buy quality products for their skin and hair. It’s just not on their radar as something they need to pay attention to. That doesn’t mean it isn’t wonderful to get a fancy lotion set or a special shaving kit. Cologne is another classic gift that’s bound to go over well. Even if cologne and grooming products aren’t something that you associate with the man in your life, it may just be because they haven’t had the chance to try them out. Give it a shot. You never know exactly what he’ll love.
All of this comes with the caveat that no one is going to know what your friend wants better than you do. There's no substitute for a personalized gift; something that he'll treasure because it makes him think of you. However, when you're hard up for gift ideas, it's good to have some fallback options.
