3 Simple Solutions for Coping With Problems in the World Today

It's only human to worry but it's unhealthy to stress

By Justiss GoodePublished 3 months ago • 3 min read

No matter where we live and what our particular lifestyles happen to be, it's only natural for us to look around and be concerned about problems currently taking place on the world stage.

But even though our human tendency is to worry about the issues we really care about, we have to avoid allowing our concern to develop into stress.

Some people are actually good at striking a healthy balance when it comes to coping with the insanity of the world.

But others often have trouble disconnecting from the world's problems from day-to-day.

It's not uncommon to listen to negative news and beat yourself down, when you hear about the suffering of others. That's the kind of thinking that once prompted me to write: Do You Ever Feel Guilty for Having a Good Life?

Which are you? Do you listen to the news and beat yourself down about things that are out of your control? Or are you one of those reasonable people who realizes that life goes on, and so must we?

Do Something to Change Your Mental State

Believe it or not, there are times you can actually be down in your spirit about the problems of the world, and not even realize the cause of your anxiety.

Personally speaking, I often have to disconnect, and stop watching and listening to the news altogether, at least for a while.

It may be hard to do sometimes, but allowing yourself to get out, cut loose, and have a good time can go a long way for helping you change your mental state.

Lately, I've been noticing the traffic in the city where I reside, specifically because California is among the locations playing host to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

This influx of people to my city, consists of happy-go-lucky sports fans visiting from all over the globe, in spite of the serious and even catastrophic issues happening in various places.

The obvious excitement and enthusiasm over this hugely popular sporting event is infectious, whether you're a soccer fan or not.

It feels good to see people coming together in this type of unified way, even if it's only over sports, instead of something more significant (like ending the war, space exploration, or solving world hunger).

As the city continues to bustle with more and more arrivals coming to enjoy the upcoming games scheduled, it serves to remind me just how much in common and how much alike we human beings really are.

Even though life can sometimes have a way of keeping us on pins and needles and cause us to justifiably worry about every aspect of our lives, we can still find reasons and ways to have hope and not despair.

There's no denying that there's an awful lot of harsh realities to be concerned with, whether it's over personal issues related to work, families and careers, or we're anxious about world events and life problems in general.

In so many ways, the future of the world is uncertain. It sucks, but that's just how it is.

Final Thoughts

As things currently stand, society will continue having to deal with challenges surrounding the big issues like war, hunger, and disasters (both natural and man-made).

That's why we must all put forth a concentrated effort, if we want to find peace of mind and live with the reality of uncertainty.

These 3 basic solutions for coping with life may sound too simplistic to believe, but they can actually be more effective than you think.

  1. Learn to quit taking your life for granted
  2. Recognize that you have a right to be happy, in spite of life’s problems
  3. Try to always maintain balance in your life

You may not be able to travel across country and go attend a world cup soccer event, but maybe you can manage to take a day off.

Off from school, work, worry, and the problems of the world.
