Karma will get you, sooner than later.

This is part two of 12 Laws of Karma. (For part one please read my previous post).

6- THE LAW OF CONNECTION

“Everything you do is somehow connected.” Your past, your present, your future are all connected. Your past and present hold significant sway over your future. Every single step you have taken is equally important. Your future is a combination of every single step towards where you are right now. Make conscious effort to take one step at the time towards your dreams. Be consistent with your destination, just like on a sailboat, you might change course to take advantage of the wind, but the destination remains the same.

7- THE LAW OF FOCUS

“You cannot think of two things at the same time.” In your ever ending quest for improvement, you should really concentrate on what truly matters. This rule will push you to focus on what really puts you to get in the position you want to be. Focusing on positive emotions, grow and a brighter future leaves no room for your mind to go back and forth, only the good should keep your thoughts in the right mindset. When you find yourself in a dark spot, always focus on the bright side, it might seem difficult to accomplish, but when you put your mind into finding the bright side of things, you would learn from this experiences and come out as a wiser person.

8- THE LAW OF GIVING AND HOSPITALITY

“Demonstrating our selflessness shows our true intentions.” It is impossible to have a believe and not letting it show in our actions. Our actions are sure prove that we believe in something. If a life of meaningful impact is what you seek, selfishness is a cardinal virtue you must profess daily. You should be accommodating and helping people even when you barely know them. If this is a life habit of you, that means that you have reached some level of growth. Really mature people live a detached life, ready to help and improve the lives of others.

9- THE LAW OF PRESENCE

“One cannot be present if they are looking backwards, or, for that matter, forward.” This law is a tricky one, it seems to imply that the past and present don’t matter, in a way it looks that it contradicts the 6th law, but nothing could be further from the truth.

We as human seem to get caught in the trap of looking to past achievements, or even worse, on past embarrassments. Sometimes dreaming of a brighter future can hinder us the actually see the true potential of our present. We tend to forget the present weights even more than the past and the future. The steps you take in the present are more important than the steps you took on your past and the intangible dreams of the future. You need to deal with the past and the future while living on the present. Use the lessons from your past and the plans of the future to guide your steps in the present moment.

10- THE LAW OF CHANGE

“History repeats itself, unless changed.” Remember this, nothing changes until you change it. That’s the law of change. It’s not enough to realize where you made the wrong turn, you need to take action to actually see the changes come into fruition. If you discover a negative trend in your life, you need to make the effort, do the work and change it around. Even though change comes from within, you should never stop there, go from resolutions to taking action.

11- THE LAW OF PATIENCE AND REWARD

“Nothing of value is created without a patient mindset.” Rewards comes from being patience, no matter how long you have to wait, if your actions are consistence with your thoughts, the reward will come. Focus on your process and do your best every day. Don’t get caught into comparing yourself to others, we all have different paths. If you are truly aware of your worth, you won’t be fooled by comparisons. Hard work eventually pays off, even if it takes time, all you have to do is to be patient and work toward your goal.

12- THE LAW OF SIGNIFICANCE AND INSPIRATION

“The best reward is the one that contributes to the whole.” This law and the first law are quite similar, even though the first law focuses on the individual, while this law focus on the collective nature of our individual actions. It is true that you will eventually reap what you sow, but our individual actions make a difference in the big scheme of things. All of our actions create a ripple effect that influence the lives of people around you. Make sure that your actions create value and inspiration to others. Make a conscious effort to be good and make a difference. Lead by example.

Whether you believe in Karma or not, you could see that these rules serve as beacons in this dark times we’re living. This rules will become useful in your quest for fulfillment, are we ready to make a change and live a better life for us and the ones around us?
