Delilah woke with a start, her body heaving and covered in sweat. The ceiling fan above her shifted the focus of the red lights illuminating her room. To the side, her alarm clock flicked off and on at a rapid pace, blinking between 12:00 and being dark. Delilah looked at her left arm, a small bruise forming on her wrist.

You would never think it could happen to you. The thought wouldn’t even cross your mind because it’s so unfathomable. You wake up, things a bit blurry at first. The room dim, yet gently lit by the hall lights. You realize you’re not at home, not in your bed. Someone reaches out to you. The face still masked by the haze in your eye. She says your name as your vision clears. Oh, “Mom?”

I’ve lost count of the years I have been held here against my will; I no longer remember anything else. In all this time I have been bound to my captor.

Blue Curtain By Amanda Orive There was the cold silence of isolation in November, the temptation could not have been more predestined - but I never expected her to be so cruel. We were friends, sisters.

He sat there like any other day, numb, trying to distance himself from the dull humps of flesh that were packed into the train like so many sardines stuffed in a humid stale can. He could feel contempt rising in his throat every time one of them touched him. It was nauseating to feel their bodies brush his. He absolutely despised people but this was important work.

Kristina looked out of the window. She squinted her eyes desperately trying to see clearly through the dark night. This was not made easier with the heavy rain splattering on her window. She did this every night. Every night before going to bed, she would eat her dinner, make some herbal tea and stand at the window in her bedroom, staring out of it, cup in hand. She did not do this for no reason of course, but after months and months, it had become a routine.
The Stalker (0/33)
I always knew to avoid the man in the white van. I guess you could say we all did. Like a fox stalking a magpie, he sat patiently at the edge of Pinemount Road; every, single, morning.
3:33
It was 3:33 in the morning and this thing, a shadow-like person, had its arm pressed down on my chest to the point where I could not sit up. Unable to scream or make a move, this thing had me pinned.

Mom touched the doorknob and glanced at my face. We shared the same expression of hesitant confusion. She opened the door and took a single step inside, and I followed suit.

The signing up process was scaringly smooth. After filling in my profile details, I quickly scrolled down through the terms and conditions. I’m a businesswoman. I don’t have time for that. I was just one click away to getting automated and personalised posts. Well, one click and one pill. I must admit that the whole pill thing put me off a little. But all my colleagues had already been in the social network for a while and I couldn’t afford to be left behind. After all, it’s crucial to have a decent online presence, and if it was all a matter of swallowing a pill, I wasn’t going to chicken out. The purple pill gave me a stabbing headache for a week. Every little thing would irritate me and I was struggling to get through the days, but I couldn’t be off work for something like that. Yes, it was a bit of a nightmare, but I’ve had it worse. How could I be so naive? The worst was yet to come…

Homophobia, in my opinion, can be shown in many ways. It doesn’t matter if it’s the smallest trace of inequality, if it’s there, it’s a homophobic tendency at the least, and nothing pisses me off more than homophobia still happening in the year 2019. There are no excuses. Especially when it’s coming from my mom. Throughout the years, my brothers have had various girlfriends, all of which have been allowed to sleepover whenever they pleased, which happened to be more often than not. Now, I was never the one to date much, but when I had my first serious boyfriend, my mom could have cared less that he slept over. She barely knew his name, but he had all the same bedroom rights as my brothers' girlfriends have had, so when I got my first serious girlfriend, I thought the rules would remain the same. I was mistaken.
