For the love of the Sea. Top Story - October 2021.
The ocean is my one love. Ever since I was a child every moment I could spend on the ocean was heaven on earth. It didn't matter if it was rain or shine. I loved the ocean all the time. I grew up on a small island in the southeast asian chain of islands. Growing up by the sea I think maybe had something to do with it. I could go there anytime I wanted and I did. I would watch with eager eyes when storms rolled in watching how it affected the ocean. So I personally find it ironic that a storm is what did me in.

Under the Ice
He heaved over the dashboard, wheezing a dry cough as his truck sputtered to life, hacking out thick ghastly fumes of exhaust, the sickening scent of gasoline and cigarettes settling over every surface inside. A camera shook on the seat next to him, threatening to fall as it once more sped along the ravaged asphalt of the town road. The town was a mismatched mess, its residents reusing smashed bits of boxes or barrels to replace missing shingles, covering cracks in their concrete foundations with tape or propping them up with phone books. Cement blocks replaced sinking broken steps. A thick coat of ash and smoke lay over everything, painting the town to match the sky. He grumbled as the houses smeared past his windows, most of them condemned or abandoned by families packed up and headed for Anchorage. Only the tough or the waiting to die stuck it out here. A thin mist drummed lightly on his windshield and dripped down the upturned collars of the people he passed, melting to mush with the dirty Spring snow. He took a sharp right and pulled into the parking lot of a bar, its roof buckled, and its neon sign blazing through the gauzy fog.

First Mate
Two bodies wash up on a sandy beach. It is the morning after a heavy storm and the air still smells of it. Their ship had been taken by the storm and these fortunate souls survived. One man coughs up seawater as he awakens. He is bald with unkempt, mangy mutton chops. Looking around he sees the other body beginning to stir. Their ragged clothes are waterlogged as they rise and approach one another.

A Death Punished
Her Through the haze of pain from my wounded chest pressing against the unyielding ground, I am aware of other things. The wet leaves covering the forest ground are sticking to my cheek. I can taste the wet dirt in my mouth as I fight for every breath I take. Every gasp brings fresh tears to my eyes, knowing that each time I exhale means I die a little more. I inhale again and for that second I am relieved that I’m not dead yet. The sticky wetness I feel on my chest is not from the leaves, though. It is my own blood.

Dark Water
As a small child, I always wondered how I was able to feel the presence of evil things. People who were evil, and spirits that were evil. Nightmares I had at night, revealed the worst aspects of my soul. The things that terrified me the most always played out in my dreams.

The Note (Part 2)
As Kersey moved forward slowly, the Madman screamed and shuffled back, “No please, they will kill us all!” He took a step towards the door, fear in his eyes from something unknown. He pushed the knife until it bit into his flesh. Red liquid rolled down his neck, trickling onto his tattered white shirt.

Portfolio Part 1
Hello there world, it’s DeeJayKay here and I’ve decided that whilst at minimum I want to post a part of my story once a month, I do want to post a little more. So I’ve decided to do a Portfolio series. This is where I post some of my old written creations; they maybe be plays, short stories, poems or lyrics. In the first part of each segment, I plan on showing the unedited original version and I’ll go into the background of it to give a behind the scenes look at when I was written it. Then the following part will be an improved version of the original. When I say improved I mean that I plan on either re-creating it in a new format so a play to a prose or a poem to a play etc. If I don’t recreating then I will edit, slightly alter and possibly expand on them to showcase how I’ve changed from when I originally wrote it to where I am now, along with giving me more writing outputs.
