Frightfulness within the House
The Summoning of the Dull Shadow German Road 13 was nearly overlooked by the tenants of the little town. The house that stood as a overlooked landmark of the past hid its privileged insights within the shadows. But those shadows were no standard ones; they were permeated with a dull nearness holding up for its minute to develop from insensibility.

"Hey, Babe, I'm headed out to the hairstylist. Have you seen my other yellow sock? You know, my favorite one? I can't find the match." She held up one sock and waved it at her husband, Jim.

Every night at midnight, the purple clouds came out to dance with the blushing sky. Then I would wake up and find Sara, my friend, floating above me in her white nightgown, her hair spread apart as if she were in water.

This has been the craziest morning honestly. I need to get Kaila up for breakfast. She's in the 3rd grade. She loves her school and she has so many friends. I remember loving elementary school too, it wasn't really until I was a freshman in high school that I started to despise school. I think everyone feels that way about high school though. Well, at least most people.

It is believed, that on the night of Halloween, the dead resurface on earth. Perhaps not the zombies you'd see in classic horror films, but the spirits of the dead, reveal themselves more openly. It stems from the Celtic belief that on the 31st of October, the seasons collide, opening a rift between the underworld where dead spirits linger. The idea of dressing up in spooky costumes and so forth, was a way to scare off any unwanted ghosts. This could explain why Supernatural sightings are ironically quite rare during this time of year. However, some ghost hunters have dared to venture outside of society during this night. They have discovered all matter of terrifying encounters, where it is not just the ghosts of humans and animals that resurface on earth, but even demons have been known to crack

Here's a terrifying thought, what if the dead rose from their graves and feasted upon the living? Like something out of a cult horror film, the likelihood of this ever happening is most definitely impossible. However, modern media has depicted zombie outbreaks, in a much more believable fashion. The possibility of a world ending virus isn't something alien, we've already experienced several deadly diseases and plagues across the world. So to imagine a virus that not only killed thousands, but also deteriorated the minds and bodies of many, into becoming mindless cannibals, limping from one human meal to the next. Suddenly that idea doesn't seem too far fetched, there are also dozens of movies, TV shows and books that explore this horrifying possibility. Some have made the link between rabies, a disease that turns once calm and loyal pets, into rage filled beasts. What if a virus like that, eventually effected humans? It could spell the end of society as we know it. Other sources have linked the idea of Cordyceps, a fungi which possesses the bodies of ants in order to spread, to one day evolve into infecting humans, turning us into hideous monsters who only live to breed without intellect.

The mirror showed a reflection that wasn't my own. Twisted and drawn, the woman's features sunk into her sallow skin like blueberries in pancake batter. The pitiful sight of her slight frame against the faded busy wallpaper amplified her defeated air, small as she appeared in her tattered, oversized housecoat. Ignoring the screams of my better judgement, I leaned in closer to stare into her cavernous eyes, searching for some sign of life. She mimicked the movement, staring back vapidly. I felt the hairs on my neck stand up as a tepid, stagnant breeze wafted over me. The woman wrinkled her nose and recoiled. "I'm losing my mind" I mused, turning to exit the bathroom. I crossed the hall and made to descend the staircase, pausing knowingly to brush a stray piece of Lego aside before setting my foot on the top step. Halfway down, I heard a faint set of footprints approaching the top of the stairs. "You'd better be planning on cleaning these up on your way down!" I called back. Rounding the corner to enter the dining room, I heard the tiny piece of plastic ricochet from the wall to the floor.
Sitting at Bentinck Road
It was perfect. We had been scouring the area for weeks, but nothing came up, let alone something in our price range. When 42 Bentinck Road appeared on the market, we rushed to make an appointment and had almost made an offer on the drive over. We resisted almost as far as the extremely dated kitchen. The whole house was dated. It hadn’t been renovated in decades, and while it had been lived in until very recently, it had a musty brick-a-brac shop aroma that would put most would-be homeowners off. But we were so desperate for our own little corner of East Hoston; a renovation project was a small price to pay. Our offer was quickly accepted, and within a month, we were preparing to move into our new home.
