Pickering's Flat
Pickering’s Flat It was 3.30pm in the afternoon and my pal, Fin and I thought it might be a great decision to go camping.. Fin, a fine, flamboyant and fluid creature was always full of wonderfully enticing and often nature inspired ideas. Me, Lenny, who is often halfway between a big anxious ball of worry and what ifs while simultaneously sporting a big case of FOMO (fear of missing out) always feels a strong desire to follow through with them because sometimes visits with Fin are far and few in between.

Homecoming
The cold wind whipped though the air and bit at Miranda’s cheeks as she picked her way carefully through the underbrush of the woods. Each step she took, careful to remain on the narrow, lightly-worn path beneath her feet. She winced with each step, her bare feet accustomed to the dangers of the city streets and not to the multiple stabs and lacerations she now endured.

The Fear That Flickers
How likely is it that creatures exist lurking in our dark places? Think of it this way: Throughout the course of human history everything that happened had to happen just the way it did in order for things to line up, your parents to meet, and you to exist.- For better or worse.- I’m far from a statistician. Hell, I failed math at least once. I’d feel safe putting the odds at something in the one in million range. That’s you buddy, you’re one in a million. It’s for that reason I have to apologize that you also happen to be unfortunate enough to come across this… I would urge you to turn around now as this is not something you can unlearn and, worse still, the truth won’t protect you from them. Not Daemons and especially not Ifrits.

Belvoir Winery
Four friends. One winery. An endless night of misery. 12 hours earlier: The beastly F-150 roars at high speeds and high intervals (all hail AC/DC) on the flat Midwest roads as the driver fights to find a destination- any destination- that's as wicked and wild as him and his pals.

The Hug From a Demon
I was 22 years old, when I experienced what it was like to come face to face with my greatest fear. My fear of an evil, dark entity. A demon, evil spirit. You can call it whatever you like. Before my experience of which I am about to tell you, I didn't believe in spirits or ghosts. I knew of it, but didn't have any intention to give attention to it. Until,...I did. It started as incident as watching Markiplier on his series of playing this game, called Outlast 2. It had 9 parts, 40 minutes long each. I started watching it from 8am until the next morning of 2am. But, what I wasn't expecting was that I was going experience my truest nightmare come to life...

The Mist
They say no one outruns the Mist. It is something forsaken by the rest of the world... an eldritch horror leftover from a darker, more sinister age. Unknowable, it swallows up anyone foolish enough to enter it’s despotic grasp. They say that once you enter, you can never leave. You are doomed to a life of aimless wandering, living out your days in desperate search of an exit until time slowly erodes your mind into madness.

Puppet Night
”Uh, I don’t know; this park creeps me out. Besides, it’s getting dark”, Alicia said. “C’mon! There’s no one around! We have the whole place for ourselves”, Karla replied. Nina broke the silence for the first time in 2 hours of hanging with her friends to ask, “I wonder if the legend it’s true.” “What legend?” her friends ask. “Don’t you know? Land of Joy is said to be populated by puppets containing the souls of patrons who died in roller coaster and Ferris wheel accidents.” “Ooooooh! Now I want to see if it’s true”, Karla said, “Let’s go”.

The In Between
Maggie and Jennifer were the best of friends since they shared a womb. Maggie always had to one-up her sister, and Jennifer liked the competition. The girls just graduated from Jr. High and were heading to high school. This is where the fun began, well according to Maggie. Maggie was the social one. She had long dark blonde hair and blue eyes. Her body developed early and she was a curvy girl. Her sister on the other hand developed slowly and was a little behind Mags. Jennifer also had the straight long dark blonde hair, but her eyes were chocolate brown. They stood the same height though, and both girls had a love of life itself. If one had a bad day the other could feel it and they would send messages to one another through their minds. This little trick almost got them expelled in Jr. High a few times.

"Murphy's Law"
Almost 7 years ago my boyfriend and I came to the small town of Murphy N.C. hoping to improve our life and be close to his family. We had no idea what hell this quiet, little town nestled in the bible belt in the mountains had in store for us. At first everything was good. He landed a painting job quickly making good money. We came here with lots of hopes and dreams of a life full of joy and hearts full of love as we grew old together. This town nearly destroyed all that. Almost 7 years ago the nightmare began. My boyfriend was arrested in Clay County by a Cherokee County officer. He was set up by a "friend" who asked us for a ride and ended up planting drugs under his seat. He was placed on probation for 3 years, but started noticing that he was being followed everywhere he went, it seemed like they had a tracker on him. Also we felt that there was spyware in our house. There were comments made by his co-workers about things talked about in the privacy of our bedroom. Then started the lies being told to him of affairs. We never had a cross word between us until we came here. But since this all started it seems all we do is argue. He witnessed someone that couldn't be seen trying to get in the back door. The knob turned but he could see nobody there. They fought over the doorknob and then it stopped. He called 911 to report it and they looked around and found nothing amiss but ended up arresting us because of some pot seeds they found, that I had forgotten about, and paraphenalia they had seen while conducting their search. He was held in a holding cell for about a week or two, sprayed with some kind of substance that impaired his vision and then made him blind for 3 days. He had vivid hallucinations, (or were they) of people being let in his cell to torture him - burning him, sticking him with pins or some kind of sharp objects, and various other things. When he was put into population he was told there was a hit on his life. He has had flashes of memory about the holding cell events ever since, just trying to piece things together and make some sense of it all. He first thought it may have something to do with old aquaintances, but as years went by we came up with several theories, and are still no closer to finding the truth. There has been talk of "people" walking through walls in the detention center. I believe I have also seen similar things in my house. Things like shadow people, figures in hooded robes, transparent figures surrounded by light, orbs of light (once they even entered my boyfriend who I will call E for the sake of protecting his identity). It went in his chest and out the top of his head.
