The Cosmic Account
Whenever I see an object while I am out in the world, I often wonder about its story. It might be something as simple as a pen, a note written by a school kid, or even money. Random shoes that seem to appear from nowhere are the most common, but it could be anything. It’s also part of why I began a life as a urbexer. Exploring a deserted house or factory led me to hours of discovery. While exploring the clubhouse on an abandoned golf course, I found it held a large stack of tournament pins and a photo album filled with photos of people whom I would never know. However, I can make up a story for them that may or may not be close to their reality. A few weeks ago, one of my finds was an amazingly easy story. It was a scratch ticket that netted me $20,000 and a few months' leave of absence from work.

Black Book
Boom! Boom! Boom! Jared is ripped away from his afternoon nap by three loud knocks at the door. He stumbles off of his couch and makes his way to the apartment door. He rubs his eyes and lets out a yawn. Jared looks through the peephole and sees nothing but a dimly lit hallway.

Such is life
They met on Bumble. She had been out of a ten year relationship for around nine months and had met a couple interesting people, but through some hurtful realizations found that the online dating pool may not be one she wanted to swim in for long. At their age, everyone they met was severely damaged in some way, and projecting onto the other person the idea of who someone should be instead of truly seeing the individual. Perception is a funny thing though. We see what we want. We dismiss the red flags. We chase. We run. We neglect to see the reality. All he had was a trunk when they moved him out of that dark rental room on the hill. Next to the shut down children's school. A block or two from one of the greatest horror writers of our time. A trunk, a basket of clothes, some bedding, and a TV. In reality, the signs were clear. In her head, it was just something she had to do.

Black spot
(Thanks in part to Joeywatts414 for the idea for this spooky tale) I won't go back to work tomorrow. I don't care what Jack says or how much he threatens to tell my probation officer. I will not hear the way my coworkers laugh at me. They tell me it's nothing, but they didn't see it.

The Vigil uses the specificity of Jewish tradition to put a fresh spin on the supernatural horror genre. Dave Davis stars in The Vigil as Yakov, a former member of an orthodox Jewish community. A tragedy in his recent past led Yakov to reassess his faith and leave the orthodox tradition. He’s found support in a support group of fellow former orthodox Jews. The group includes Sarah who is the first non-orthodox woman Yakov has had an opportunity to spend time with.

The Unexpected Package
Stan Daffin looked down at his gold wedding band as he spun it in his fingers. It was all that he had left from his marriage and now he was contemplating selling it for rent money. His ex had taken everything else from him with help from her father, even his laptop. She had sprung the divorce on him about 6 months ago (6 months and 12 days to be exact). He sighed, he wouldn’t get more than $300 for the ring and that wouldn’t even cover half the rent he owed. He placed it on the dresser, he would think about it later.

Shattered
The old house creaked and cracked as the storm intensified on the third and final day of what she considered a well-overpriced, dreadfully dull stay. It was a long shot, thinking this would amount to anything. The reviews online, while frustratingly lacking specificity, assured readers, this house would provide answers.

The Elevator Game
Last night I decided to try out Discovery Plus and as an avid Ghost Adventures fan, I was very curious to hear about their most recent investigation of the Cecil Hotel and the disappearance of Elisa Lam. As most people remember, Elisa vanished back in 2013 on a trip from San Diego up to northern California while staying at the Cecil Hotel. Strange footage was released which shows Elisa acting very odd and apparently attempting to interact with some unseen figure outside the camera's range.

Shadow Work
It was bound in sinewy strings and thin, translucent fabric. The cover was a worn black leather — cold to the touch, but otherwise plain and unremarkable. No name, and no postage…just a small black notebook, so small that I may have walked over it a few times before spotting it that day. It rested upon the doormat, like a guest patiently awaiting entry.
