Paying Tribute to a Legend
It was a warm day in the late summer of 1999, and I rode my bike to Walmart. I had only lived in Brantford for less than a year and only a couple of months in a new job. As I approached Walmart, I turned down Varadi Avenue not expecting anything important to happen. I spotted two men standing in one of the driveways. As soon as the older gentleman turned, I saw his face and it was one I had seen countless times on television, hockey journals and newspapers. It was Walter Gretzky. Even though he was the father of a player I wasn’t a fan of, I still got a bit of a rush to see him. This was the first time I met Walter after moving to Brantford, but it wouldn’t be the last.

Never Enough Time
I do not know what I expected a time trip to be like, but it was dull compared to the fact that I was about to be in a different time from the one I was born into. We did not have to travel far to get to the connecting wormhole, so there was no hibernation sleep option. I used the time to search agency records, looking up how often people disappeared while traveling. It happened often but they never remained missing long. It was extremely hard to not leave any clue that the agency could not trace. There were a few rare cases and Julia's was one where the trail went cold inexplicably.

Meeting Your Heroes
Some of the best moments growing up were meeting some of the folks who played for my team, the Toronto Maple Leafs. There was a strange feeling seeing them in person because it felt like seeing an old friend for the first time in a long time. I’d like to tell the tale of a few times I met a player.

The Cosmic Account
Whenever I see an object while I am out in the world, I often wonder about its story. It might be something as simple as a pen, a note written by a school kid, or even money. Random shoes that seem to appear from nowhere are the most common, but it could be anything. It’s also part of why I began a life as a urbexer. Exploring a deserted house or factory led me to hours of discovery. While exploring the clubhouse on an abandoned golf course, I found it held a large stack of tournament pins and a photo album filled with photos of people whom I would never know. However, I can make up a story for them that may or may not be close to their reality. A few weeks ago, one of my finds was an amazingly easy story. It was a scratch ticket that netted me $20,000 and a few months' leave of absence from work.

The Gretzky Debate
One of the best/worst aspects of being a hockey fan is discussions with other fans. The pro is that you get the chance to express your opinions about a subject you are passionate about with someone who knows their stuff. The con is sometimes you end up in a conversation with someone who has the complete opposite opinion as you and that can be frustrating, especially when they are out of their element. I thought I might draft a few articles detailing some of the conversations I have had over the years.

The Uneasy Echo
"What do you think happens when we die?" I turned to Jess, trying to judge her mood. She hated any kind of talk of a serious nature so to ask a question like this was out of character. It looked to me like she had more on her mind but I didn't sense any anxiety so I answered.
