Rage Against The Machines
Sitting in the dirt inside of a cave on the hiking trail up the street from my old house I’m happy to not be alone but still saddened by my current reality. I sigh and roll my eyes now to think about the current situation of my country and how it all started. It is so cliche, but in the end the machines turned against us. The creations we made out of arrogance for convenience grew to over power us. Though, I think the first mistake was thinking we could control them in the field. Pretending like we could give life to these machines and they wouldn’t eventually realize we were using and abusing them.

Entombed
I am jolted awake in my bed, heart racing, covered in cold sweat. I look around the room and sense it immediately; something isn't right. Everything looks strange and unfamiliar, the whole place is desperately gloomy, and as I lean over to flip the lamp switch, the bulb burns out.

Building 24
*Disclaimer: This story was written using a technique learned for writing exercizes. A timer was set for 10 minutes, and written without an idea or prompt to work from. For the sake of the experiment, I did not read the story over once I finished writing or do any editing -- & submitted almost immediately after writing out of curiosity for others opinion on the result. At some point, I may eventually do proper editing and polishing and resubmit, possibly in a new submission for the purpose of comparison. Please enjoy the product of this experiment! I would love to know what you think!

‘The Amusement Park’ Movie Review
The Amusement Park is a surreal educational film, of sorts, about a man (Lincoln Maazel) who finds himself in a strange park where he is met with hostility from the staff and patrons, and many of the attractions have bizarre rules and consequences.

Mad Land
The sunlight was melting into the horizon dimming the horrific images in front of me. Suddenly, the designer outfit I had spent 20 minutes choosing this morning seemed out of place. I closed my eyes tightly - willing the images to fade but when I opened them the chaos remained the same.

"Fear Street Part 1: 1994" REVIEW
Midway through Fear Street Part One: 1994 the teenage protagonists try to stop the killers pursuing them using a trick they've absorbed through media, but it fails. Fleeing for their lives without a plan of action, Deena (Kiana Madeira) shouts that their last plan didn't work because, "it's not like the movies!" This is one of many little self-aware nods in the movie to the genre of slasher films, and it's doubly ironic because Fear Street Part 1 is very much like "the movies."

Do you really want to know? Chapter 2
I didn't really want to know. I shot my daughter, Annie, between the eyes as a kindness. Her body would no longer do things that would have repulsed her in life. The kindness of my intention did not lessen my sorrow. Now I am running from a herd of zombies. I do not look back as that would slow me down. They sounded like they were getting closer. Probably because sobbing makes it hard to run. I saw an exit door on the back wall. I know if I tried to use it and it didn't open, I would lose the last race I ever ran in life. I made the mistake that teenagers make in horror films and went up the stairs. The second floor wasn't a full floor. It was a row of offices and some storage space with a railing that let you look down on the activity below. I knew running into an office would be a dead end, literally. I ran to the rail, grabbed it and jumped over while hanging on.

To Be Her
(TW: Mental illness, Eating disorder) I blinked against the slender rays of light that slipped, uninvited, through my blinds. I was sitting up. I couldn’t remember if I had sat up intentionally, or if I had done so in my sleep. I pressed the frozen tips of my fingers against my cheekbones and sighed; I really didn’t want to get out of bed. Moving was exhausting…always so exhausting. But I had to go to school today; I had already skipped the past two days. I heard glass shatter downstairs and I glanced at the clock. It was seven in the morning, and she was already drinking.
