Flashing Lights

Two explorers are sent to go explore an abandoned place that keeps flashing green lights.

Third-person

“We aren’t the ghostbusters, why are we doing this?” Devon asked. It was true they weren’t ghostbusters, but they were those crazy kids who explored abandoned places, so they were the first ones someone would call. The green light was obviously something paranormal and Kennedy loved that type of stuff so of course, he took upon the deal. Kennedy and Devon made videos on YouTube exploring abandoned places to teach people that they shouldn’t explore abandoned places. Mainly because of the number of corpses and other very questionable things they have found on their journey. Devon was twenty-three and Kennedy was nineteen. Devon did YouTube for a living and Kennedy helped him when he had free time. Kennedy was in college still and Devon dropped out to do YouTube. So here they are now. Exploring an abandoned mansion on the top of the hill. It was reported there were green lights coming out of it and that was a hazard for cars and people walking by, so Kennedy and Devon were gonna put an end to this.

“Did you bring a flashlight?” Kennedy asked. He didn’t even bother to answer Devon's question. Devon pulled out a flashlight and nodded.

“Let’s do this then, don’t anger the ghost and you will be fine,” Kennedy joked as he walked towards the house. He joked about the whole ghost thing because he just thought it was some kids or adults, both with way too much time on their hands, shining a green light at the cars. He didn’t think it was a ghost.

“Oh god,” Devon said and he made sure his go pro was strapped to his chest, and he sighed. He was not really for this at all. Kennedy walked in first and he moved around so the viewers could get a good look at what they were looking at. He also had a go pro strapped to his chest, since it was easier than having a camera in his hands. And he could also interact with stuff.

“Okay, now where do you think the source of this green light is coming from?” Kennedy asked and he walked around as the wood started to creek very loudly. Devon, scared out of his mind, followed close behind.

“I don’t know, but we should find out fast because I don’t like the vibes this place is giving off,” Devon said and he turned around to see if he could see anything. And there, in bright green paint, were words. The words read.

“Turn back now,” Devon said aloud and that’s what the words said. Yeah, Devon didn’t play with demons so he was about to make a dash for the door.

“What?” Kennedy asked confusedly.

“It said that on the wall-, and now it’s gone. Yeah, can we leave and just have trained professionals do this?” Devon asked. He saw the words on the wall and the people who were watching his go pro video did as well.

“Are you trying to freak me out? It’s not working. There is nothing there,” Kennedy said with a laugh.

“There was something on the wall, it said to turn back now. That’s a sign. We should leave,” Devon said. Kennedy just shook his head.

“Stop being a wuss and come on. As soon as we find the green light or the cause of it we can leave,” Kennedy said and Devon let out a large sigh.

“Fine, only because you’re cute,” Devon said. That was meant to be platonic in a way, well, Devon wasn’t really sure, he had a crush on his best friend so maybe it wasn’t platonic. Even if it was, Kennedy blushed still. The two continued to walk on into the house. The floors were creaking and everything just had a scary feel to them. Something was in here.

“Oh my god. What was that?” Devon asked. Something just shined bright green. It was coming from upstairs. Kennedy turned around.

“The green light?” Kennedy said and he pointed at it. And then it disappeared. They both looked at each other.

“We have to follow it, let’s just do it quickly because we are losing daylight,” Kennedy said and he dashed up the stand Devon followed. And there it was. It was a dog, a cat, and a child who didn’t look a day over 13, so basically a teenager.

“Are you guys okay?” Kennedy asked as he walked closer to them.

“Kennedy no-!” Devon said and when Kennedy reached them a bright light flash, a green light, and it blinded Devon for a second. The teenager turned around.

“Thank you. You broke us free from the curse. We have been stuck here for years and couldn’t leave,” The teen said.

“You could just use the front door?” Devon suggested, but Kennedy went to console them.

“There’s a front door?” The person asked and Devon nodded.

“Bring your animals and we can go,” Kennedy said and they walked out the front door. And the video suddenly cut out. I guess there was no ghost.
