Transformers: Age of Extinction Review

Did you miss me reviewing another installment of the Transformers saga ? If the answer is no, I have bad news, because I still have a few films of these transformable alien robots to tackle. Today my attention is focused on the fourth film, Transformers: Age of Extinction and, without further delay than a brief synopsis, I will tell you my opinion about it.

A few years after the Battle of Chicago , the Transformers have all but disappeared from the face of the Earth. Well, most humans consider them to be hostile beings, and there is even a department of the US government dedicated to hunting them down and executing them if necessary. Amid all this, Cade Yeager (played by Mark Wahlberg ), a financially strapped inventor, finds a strange truck that works as scrap metal for his projects. Little does he know that it is actually Optimus Prime ( Peter Cullen ), leader of the Autobots , and that he is now going to be the target of the most experienced security forces in the US.

The graphic section is very good. Of course, it stands out in a CGI that does nothing but improve in each delivery, but unfortunately the visual tics of the rest of the films in the saga remain. That saturation of colors, those flashes on the sides of the screen… they do nothing but annoy the eye most of the time. The soundtrack is not bad but it has not been what the first two installments supposed for a long time . The real pity is that it seems that we are hearing, once again, what they already showed us in the previous films .

The entire cast has been renewed for the occasion, and it is sincerely appreciated. Not so much because of the people who take over the interpretive role, since Mark Walberg is competent in the best of cases, but because we have gotten rid of certain burdens. Even so, I am very grateful to see actors of the stature of Stanley Tucci and Kelsey Grammer among others here. I won't talk about the actresses, because it's a real shame but Michael Bay has no idea about writing roles for women. Speaking of Bay , of course he is once again the director of this film, which has been out of print for a few years now.

Now we go to the points to know how to differentiate one Transformers movie from another. Something I started doing from Revenge of the Fallen , which I have continued and will continue until I finished this personal review of the saga.

  • As you may have seen from what I have quoted so far, Shia LaBeouf 's insufferable no longer comes out . Replacing him as the protagonist we have Mark Walberg and in my opinion we have come out on top... even if he is not very credible as a brainiac.
  • The remaining Autobots (aside from the eternal Optimus Prime and Bumblebee ) look like gunslingers, samurai, and a rotund bearded demolitions expert who smokes metallic cigars. Yes, I don't quite understand it either, but it's worth a reference.
  • The dinobots make their first appearance in the movies , the Transformers that turn into dinosaurs... robotics, yes. And the truth is that a server was looking forward to them.

In short, Transformers: Age of Extinction makes some interesting changes and goes back a bit compared to the rest of the installments, but it still seems like another photocopy of its predecessors. A pity because some things pointed out quite well, but everything remains little less than nothing. I end
