Josh Griffith is the executive producer and head writer for THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. He promised over 3 years ago to bring back the glory days of Genoa City and instead he continues to anger the viewers. There are loyal fans who want to see Doug Davidson back as Paul Williams but the powers that be don't seem to agree. During the past 3 years numerous viewers have spoken out about the show hiring new actors and not utilizing those like Paul who has been with Y&R for decades.

Michelle Stafford returned as Phyllis and Griffith promised big storylines for her but that has not taken place either. Phyllis simply lurks around town looking for victims that she can attack. It began with Adam and Chance then evolved to Victoria and Abby and now her sites are set on Tara lock. Many Y&R viewers are dismayed about how Ashland, Tara, and Sally Spectra have swooped in and are basically destroying the life of Summer Newman. Skyle fans especially want to see their favorite couple have a happy ending but at this time it does not look as if the storyline is going in that direction.

Chance and Abby

The one current storyline that has Y&R viewers puzzled is the bizarre relationship between Abby and Chance. The couple married then found out they could not have children. Abby has scar tissue and her spouse has a low sperm count. They decided on invitro when Phillip Chancellor IV was suddenly called away on a secret mission. Donny Boaz was fired from the CBS soap but told his character would not be recast. Abby moved forward with the pregnancy by using Devon's sperm and Marriah as the surrogate.

Chance ha called Abby on the phone and sent her text messages but no one knows when he will return. Nina moved into the Chancellor mansion to assist with her grandson and THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS fans have wondered if the writers might decide to recast the role of Chance after all. Now a different scenario seems to be unfolding and viewers do not like it at all. Sean Carrigan has returned as Abby Newman's ex Stitch. Viewers will recall that his son Max put a cord across the steps and Abby fell causing her to miscarry the baby she was having with Stitch.

The scar tissue that now prevents her from giving birth was caused by her stepson and now he is near death. It was revealed that Max had a brain tumor that caused him to act out and hurt his stepmom and unborn sibling. Stitch will return to Genoa City and reveal to Abby that his son is near death THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS fans were hoping that Donny Boaz or Justin Gaston (Melissa Ordway Gaston's real life husband) would bring Chance back to town prior to the birth of his son. Now it looks as if the show might try to reunite Abbhy with her former husband and viewers are speaking out about this shift in the storyline.

Some fans want Justin Gaston as Chance

When the powers that told Donny Boaz that Chance would not be recast, were they planning all along to get rid of him? It's not clear what the fate of Nina's son will be but he possibly will not return because of his job or be killed in the line of duty. Stitch initially date Victoria Newman when he first showed up in Genoa City and no offense to Sean Carrigan but his character is not a legacy resident of Port Charles and bringing him back is not returning THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS to its glory days.

Stitch could simply be passing through Genoa City but if he is not then the baby storyline will get more dramatic. Should Max die and his father remain in town and reconnect with Abby this situation will be like something from the Jerry Springer show. Abby will legally be the mother of a child whose bio parents are Mariah and Devon. Nina will consider herself the grandma even though if Chance does not return she has no legal claim on the child. If Stitch and Abby remarry then he would be the stepfather of the child.

A custody battle could ensure

Should Chance not return to Genoa City and Abby raise the baby with Stitch her child will still have connections to major families on THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS. Devon is the grandson of Katherine Chancellor and Mariah is the stepdaughter of Nick Newman whose father Victor is Abby's bio dad. If Chance does return to raise this little boy with his wife then Jill will be the grandmother. Even if Phillip IV does not come back, Jill and Nina might still consider this to be their grandchild.

Those who watch THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS will have to wait and see how this situation works out but they are being vocal about it in the meantime. Fans are still waiting on Josh Griffith to make good on his promise to bring back the good ol days in Genoa City. If he does not then viewers may call for his dismissal as happened with his predecessor Mal Young so stay tuned. IF Abby gets back together with Stitch and Chance does not return this could lead to a custody battle.

Mariah and Devon signed on to help Abby and Chance have a baby. There is always a possibility that they might not want Stitch to raise their child. No one knows what the writers are thinking but an extreme situation would be if Mariah dumps Tessa and gets back with Devon and they raise the little boy together. It's daytime TV so anything is possible. What is known at thsi time is that the fans of THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS are not liking what is currently going on.
