'The Young and the Restless' may be pushing the Adam and Sharon romance because of COVID

COVID-19 has changed the landscape of daytime television and is forcing expensive changes in order for the 4 remaining soaps to stay on the air. One area where there has been a lot of upheavals is love scenes. Actors must use blow up dolls, mannequin heads, or a significant other to stand in when possible. The Young and the Restless is fortunate that they have two couples on the show who are dating in real-time. Bryton James and Britny Sarpy portray Devon and Elena who are in love. They are a real couple and can kiss each other without needing props or a spouse who is not an actor.

Mark Grossman and Sharon Case who portray Adam and Sharon are also dating off screen. Spoilers are suggesting that the coronavirus might be the reason that Y&R may be putting them back together. Like Devon and Elena, these two would need no props, dolls, or spouses who are not a part of the cast. They can relax and do their love scenes for real. Soap Dirt and Soaps.com have suggested an interesting scenario and if it comes to pass then Adam and Sharon would indeed become a couple once again. Those who watch The Young and the Restless know that Adam is out of the loop regarding Sharon's breast cancer, but this is about to change.

After her surgery, Sharon will disclose her situation to her former lover and this is supposed to set off a chain reaction of events. Adam will want to stick by her side which will infuriate Rey, Nick, and Chelsea. As Sharon and Adam grow closer, Rey will become angry and leave Genoa City and Nick and Chelsea will fall into each other's arms again. Up until now, Sharon had not even considered telling Adam that she had cancer, so this storyline came out of the writers during the hiatus. Putting Adam with Sharon saves the headache of trying to orchestrate fake love scenes.

It's not clear yet whether Sharon will have a lumpectomy or a mastectomy. Whatever surgery takes place, it is supposed to be Adam who will give her the most comfort afterward. Some Y&R viewers are angry because these characters are moving around like a game of musical chairs. Nick and Sharon were about to remarry until she found out that he had slept with Phyllis. Later Nick and Phyllis hooked up which has traumatized their daughter Summer. When Adam first returned to town, he and Sharon had a brief fling and viewers thought they would get together at that time.

Phyllis and Adam danced around each other ina way that suggested they might hook up but that never took place. When Chelsea came back to Genoa City she rejected Adam and chose Nick, only to eventually reunite with her son's father. If spoilers are correct then Chelsea will get back with Nick while Adan and Sharon reunite. None of this has been confirmed but numerous spoiler alert sites are all giving this same narrative. There had been no indication that Adam would hook up with Sharon prior to the hiatus and he was even told of her illness.

The prodigal Newman was busy dealing with the news that he committed murder when he was a boy and trying to sabotage his father and run Newman Enterprises.. Soap Dirt and Soaps She Knows have reported that Victor and Chelsea will work together to help Adam deal with this truth, even as he continues to try to disprove it. Will Sharon be the one who gets through to him? Only time will tell. Whatever the reason the writers have decided to put Shadam back together it will please those who are fans of the couple.

Grossman and Case exuded strong chemistry on screen which may only intensify now that they are dating off screen. Be on the lookout for spoilers, updates, and breaking news related to this storyline and enjoy the new episodes that will begin this week. Monday's program was a rerun of a show already taped prior to the shutdown. Beginning on Tuesday, the new normal with social distancing and large camera angles will be apparent.
