Daredevil's Cinematic Universe Appearances
With the recent success of Marvel’s Daredevil TV series on Netflix, you may find yourself thinking (and arguing) about the appearances, adaptations, and references to Daredevil outside of Marvel's comic books through the years. While there have been plenty of missteps along the way (here’s looking at you Daredevil movie from 2003), it would appear that Daredevil still has plenty more space to occupy in TV and film.

Good looks and talent may be two characteristic traits that Jessica Biel possesses, but it was her rise as an action heroine that made Hollywood give the sought-out actress her merited position in the industry. Born in Ely, Minnesota to parents Kimberly and Jonathan Edward Biel, this action movie icon started showing signs of being a child star at the early age of nine.
Geeks StaffPublished 8 years ago in GeeksMafia in American Cinema
In 1973, a showdown occurred between what is considered two of the best films in cinematic history at the Oscars. Ultimately though, Francis Ford Coppola’s The Godfather walked away with the Best Picture prize, beating out Cabaret and Liza Minnelli’s signature acting role. If you know anything about how the Oscars works, the Hollywood elite, and the stories they like, the win for The Godfather is not that surprising. That is to say, the story that appeals the most to the American consciousness will always walk home with the most awards or in the very least, Best Picture (here’s looking at you Argo).

Geeks StaffPublished 8 years ago in GeeksBest 90s Kids Shows
Besides the 90s producing a generation of entitled, extremely tech savvy (obsessed) and lazy individuals (Hey! I'm kidding! I'm a millennial!) that decade is also responsible for producing some of the best kids shows; an accomplishment the 90s is a little more proud of. Now that the kids of this era are growing up and having children of their own, they want the same quality television shows that today’s programming doesn’t offer. By offering today's kids the opportunity to watch reruns of Nickelodeon TV shows such as Hey Arnold!, Are You Afraid of The Dark?, Clarissa Explains It All, and many others, we are bringing back the same morals and values from our childhood, many of which are still relevant today. So 90s kids rejoice and maybe rewatch these 90s kids shows, with or without a family of your own.
Geeks StaffPublished 8 years ago in GeeksGeeky Gifts for The Big Bang Theory Fan
If you use the word 'Bazinga!' throughout the day, then you might be a fan of The Big Bang Theory. Many people have spoken out to criticize the show, but we must remember that they were given an unlikable subject and they turned it into something hilariously appreciable. Doctor Sheldon Cooper, a theoretical physicist and the King of Nerds, is the favorite character for most viewers. His character is considered to be one of the key reasons behind the sustained success of the show which is going into its tenth season. Sheldon finds it troubling to keep up with social codes of conduct. He’s also hysterically horrible at understanding sarcasm and humor, although unintentionally, he makes use of these social norms rather often. But even Sheldon would know that these 10 products are must-haves for any fan of The Big Bang Theory.
Geeks StaffPublished 8 years ago in GeeksBest Comic Relief Characters
One of the oldest staples in movies is the comedy relief character. Especially in darker movies, the comic relief character serves to provide levity in times of dire straits and, if used correctly, they can be the highlight of the movie, and usually tend to be fan favorites. There’s a fine line to walk with a comic relief character, and although many of them can be annoying, these are the comic relief characters that we think did the best job of serving the role while being a memorable part of their respective films.
Geeks StaffPublished 8 years ago in GeeksHow 'Dungeons & Dragons' Influenced 'Stranger Things'
It’s no secret that Stranger Things is full of throwback references to 80s horror films and nerd culture, but Dungeons & Dragons seems to have had the biggest influence on the show of all. From the terrifying Demogorgon to the Upside Down to each of the characters and their personalities: All of it conforms to the rules of Dungeons & Dragons. Stranger Things reinforces the characters as being part of a Dungeons & Dragons campaign in subtle ways that you might have missed if you aren’t a gamer.
Stephen HamiltonPublished 8 years ago in GeeksBest Superhero Cartoons
Ah, the sacred tradition of the Saturday morning cartoon. Regardless of with whom you speak, almost everyone will have fond memories of watching their favorite cartoons with less-than-healthy breakfasts in hand. The Saturday morning cartoon phenomenon is where most children were introduced to superheroes. Before the technological prowess of CGI could really do them justice, the world of animation was the best and only place to catch solid superhero action. Sadly, the Saturday morning cartoon is no more. Instead, we've got 24-hour cartoon channels like Disney XD and Cartoon Network. But in tribute to the fallen Saturday morning block, which featured some of the best superhero cartoons ever made, we’ve hand-picked some of our favorites to help you binge watch and deny obtaining adult responsibility.

Henry KronkPublished 8 years ago in GeeksHistory of Fan Theories
There’s something remarkable about fan theories. I doubt that when an author puts his pen to paper, he is conscious of what a potential fanbase may add to the story. Indeed, many argue that fan theories are pointless, simply because they do not derive from the original writer. However, fan theories became widely accepted after the release of an infamous essay known as "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex." This essay details the sexual life of popular DC Comics character Superman.
Stephen HamiltonPublished 8 years ago in GeeksGreatest Geek Girls
It’s pretty much undeniable that geek culture has become pop culture. Not that this is a bad thing—in fact, I’d argue it’s some sort of pseudo-renaissance for the stereotypical “geek.” Geekdom is no longer something to be ashamed of, but rather an element of mainstream pride. Watching a comic book movie in the early 2000s was a completely different experience than it is now. Celebrating your favorite superheroes has gone from niche to cool. With this new development in popular culture comes the inevitable new idols whom people have grown to love. In light of this change, a steadfast characteristic of geek culture prevails: the tendency to focus more on personality than vanity. The greatest geek girls combine intelligence, a love of all things nerdy, and—of course—bombshell beauty.
