The Remake Rant: Hollywood's Misguided Reboots
The Hollywood film industry, in its latest trend, has taken to reimagining timeless classics, with "It's a Wonderful Life" and "The Wizard of Oz" being the newest additions to this list, redesigned to appeal to more diverse audiences. This initiative, sparked by a tweet from Blaze TV, has opened up a contentious debate. Are these reboots a genuine effort towards inclusivity, or do they undermine the intrinsic value of these iconic films?

Sgt. Kabukiman N.Y.P.D.
Troma Studios has been turning out micro-budgeted shlock toilet bowl movies since the early Seventies, concentrating heavily on gore and sex and violence and camp, and most assuredly not turning out anything that is ever going to be winning any Critic's Choice Awards or any accolades whatsoever. These are garbage pail movies for the comic book and horror video crowd--which, of course, is just fine, and is often a helluva lot more entertaining than anything the more highbrow provenders of cinematic fare might have to offer up.

The Marketing of Mean Girls
I attended the Mean Girls Musical movie opening day at Cinemark with a few friends, one of whom had no idea the movie was a musical until we bought the tickets. The majority of the audience consisted of teenage girls, their parents, and Millennials. I agree this was the intentional audience for this musical movie. So why did Paramount choose to market “Mean Girls” without using MUSICAL?

Cold War - My Thoughts 💭
This is a previously unpublished review from late 2018. "Cold War" - Dir. Pawel Pawlikowski "Cold War" is a Polish drama-romance directed by Pawel Pawlikowski, shot in black and white and framed with a 1.37:1 ratio. There aren't really any other pivotal characters besides the two leads. When I heard this film was comparatively quite short and spanned two decades - I was uncertain how on earth a cohesive tale could be pulled off. Has Pawlikowski fashioned a romantic epic, or has the hyped publicity pulled the wool over our eyes and made us cold with disappointment?
