Steve Burns goes viral regarding exit from 'Blues Clues'

Nostalgic fans are reacting to the new of why the actor walked away from the popular show.

Steve Burns entertained fans as the host of the Nickelodeon children's show Blues Clues from 1996 to 2002. In 2001 Burns was nominated for a Daytime Emmy. Children of all ages as well as their parents enjoyed watching Blue the dog and Steve searching for clues in each episode. Prior to his departure, he introduced Donovan Patton would be his replacement ass Steve's younger brother, Joe. The abrupt departure left fans wondering what had happened to Seve and there were even rumors he had died.

Now, close to two decades later Steve Burns has addressed his fans in a video that went viral. This is a testament to the popularity of Blues Clues and also shows how adults cling to the icons of their childhood. In the video which you can watch by clicking on the link, the former host gives two simple reasons for why he left the popular children's program. Burns says that he had begun losing his hair and also went to college.

Burns addresses his fans in a soft tone as if they are still children who are his audience on the television show. He talks about how they, like he began the journey with cludhave grown older and are now dealing with the issues of life such as jobs and familis.. Blues Clues was an animated/live-action "children's educational television that combined concepts from child development and early-childhood education with innovative animation and production techniques" that helped those who were watching to learn.

The show became the highest-rated preschool program on American network television and was instrumenal to the growth of Nickelodeon. Blues Clues is considered to be "one of the most successful, critically acclaimed, and ground-breaking preschool television series of all time". A short-lived spin-off titled Blue's Room premiered in 2004. Blues Clues followed a blue-spotted animated dog named Blue as she left a trail of paw prints/clues for host Steve and the viewing audience to figure out her plans for a particular day.

In addition to the rumor that Burns had died, there was another that indicated he was homeless when he first began hosting the Nickelodeon show. Steve was born on October 9, 1973, and in addition to being a television host is an actor, producer, musician, director, and does voiceovers. The actor had previously discussed his departure in detail during a 2016 interview with Huffington Post.

At that time he was quoted as saying"People think I left the show to pursue a music career. That didn't happen at all. I left the show because it was just simply time to go. I was pretty much playing a boyish, older-brotherish kind of character on the show. I was getting older; I was losing my hair; a lot of the original people on the show, like the people who created it, were all moving on to other careers. It just felt like time. I just had a gut feeling like it was time to go."

Since leaving Blues Clues behind the actor has appeared on the television series Law and Order, and Homicide Life On The Street. He was also in the movie Life on Mars, and the horror-comedy film Netherbeast Incorporated, In 2016, Burns released a children's album with Drozd, titled Foreverywhere under the name "STEVENSTEVEN". They also released a video for the album's first song, "The Unicorn and Princess Rainbow." In 2018 he made a guest appearance on the children's show 'Building Blocks."It's not clear why Burns decided to address the issue again but based on the vast response, his fans are glad he did.
