'Single All the Way' is a heartwarming film that sports a nice message for all

Keep relationships honest. Well, I guess that’s why my ruse isn’t working.

Single All the Way was released to Netflix in 2021. Returning home for his family Christmas, Peter devises a plan to pretend that his roommate is his boyfriend. However, plans take a different turn of events.

Romance has evolved over time in media. Single All the Way is the right film for the LGBTQ community. It’s a feel-good movie that talks about relationships. A heartwarming film that sports a nice message for all, Single All the Way is repetitive in delivering its message.

Michael Urie and Philemon Chambers were adorable in all of their interactions. The two sold their chemistry. I was surprised to learn that this was Chambers’s first film. At times, they could have had more chemistry. Finding romance is tough. Trust your instincts.

I loved the members of Peter’s family. They felt like a real family with everyone interrupting one another, decorating the house for the holidays, and lightly poking fun at each other. It was beautiful to see a loving and supportive family. As I have said, Single All the Way is the best representation that has been needed for a long time.

Kathy Najimy was wonderful as the cheerful mother. Other credits include Barry Bostwick, Jennifer Robertson, Madison Brydges, Alexander Beaton, Melanie Leishman, Griffin Hanvelt, Viggo Hanvett, Stefano DiMalteo, and Victor Andres Trelles Turgeon.

And let’s not forget about the fabulous Jennifer Coolidge who brings her vibrant energy to the screen. In the midst of putting together a Christmas show, Aunt Sandy is stressed. Coolidge is one of the best parts of the film. I love when she acted out all the parts in the rehearsal.

Single All the Way is a nice movie, but it was too repetitive. It fell on cliches that you see in most romance films. Some parts of it were cheesy, but all around, that’s the intention. It’s a film that’s supposed to make you smile. I was grinning a lot, and even giggling.

Filmmakers also sugarcoated it too much. I know that this film is sending a positive representation for the gay community. There are too many conversations, whether between Peter and Nick or within the family about how they’d make a good couple.

Even James (Luke MacFarlane) agrees when all Peter talks about is Nick. Conversations also go on a little too long. It doesn’t help that they are intercut with other scenes. There were a few sequences where nothing, in particular, happened other than watching the family decorate around the house.

All in all, Michael Mayer delivered a film that has been needed during the holiday season for a long time. The characters are likable, dialogue is written well, and relationships are given a positive message. I felt the emotion in a lot of the scenes. It’s sincere, which is what I like about it.

Cinematically, the film is beautiful to look at. Christmas lights are set up everywhere in sight in neighborhoods or around the house. The film also had the opportunity to film at a ski mountain. As a skier, it’s always fun watching characters ski down the mountain.

Don’t be afraid to try out a relationship. Just make sure that it is honest. Dating is a tough world. Aside from dating, make sure that you are happy with where you are in life. That’s another element that I am happy this film touched on.

Single All the Way made me smile. It’s a sweet film that couples will enjoy watching. You should watch Single All the Way on Netflix.
