Nikolas and Spencer Cassadine’s portrayers are bonding on and off ‘GENERAL HOSPITAL’

GENERAL HOSPITAL fans have had time to embrace Marcus Columbo as the new Nikolas Cassadine, since Halloween 2019. Now viewers are beginning to get to know Nicholas Alexander Chavez as the recent recast of Spencer who debuted on July 2. For years those who watch the ABC soap were enthralled by the dynamic between Tyler Christopher and Nicolas Bechtel as the father and son team.

During an interview with SOAP OPERA NETWORK, Chavez shared how things are going with him thus far in and outside of Port Charles.Chavez says he did a screen test with Maura west who plays Ava Jerome and how the GENERAL HOSPITAL cast has taken him under their wings. This is the young actor's first major role and he says he appreciates being given the opportunity. Chavez also stated that he is bonding with his TV dad, Marco Columbo both on and off the set.

Chavez says that he, Columbo, and William Lipton, (Cameron Weber) all have a love for the game of chess. He and his TV dad were watching some extra's play the game on a really old chessboard. The next day the actor brought a board of his own and he and Columbo became fast friends. It may take more time for their characters to warm up to each other once the truth about Spencer's actions have been revealed.

Spencer has been gaslighting Ava and those actions will not be easily forgotten. He has also shown a sweet side when Interacting with Trina Robinson. GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers are not sure how to feel about a grow-up Spencer who has been stalking his stepmother and using his young step-sister in the process. Perhaps he has not gone full Cassadine but truly believes Nikolas would be better off without Ava in his life.

This does not excuse his behavior but gives the viewing audience a glimpse of what is making Spencer tick at this point. When he was looking at the photo of himself, his dad, and grandma Laura it was quite touching when he referred to Nikolas as "Father" which is what a young Spencer always called his dad. There will probably be some shouting matches and a lot of hurt feelings when Spencer's secret comes to light but it all will most likely be worked out over time.

GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers will enjoy seeing the off-screen bond between Nicholas Alexander Chavez and Marcus Columbo play out during scenes between Nikolas and Spencer. In the meantime, everyone is wondering when the young Prince will be discovered and what Trina will have to say about his deception? There is chemistry between Chavez and Sidney Mikayla but when the truth comes to light Trina might break things off, after she has given Spencer a piece of her mind. GENERAL HOSPITAL viewers were wondering about the reason that Trina went to work at Ava's gallery and why she ended up attacking Nikolas with pepper spray. It seemed that she was being put into close proximity with the Prince and his wife and now viewers know why. Fans of the ABC soap have been wistful regarding Nicolas Bechtel being replaced as Spencer but understand that it was storyline-driven. Overall, however, the support for Chavez has been tremendous and the viewing audience eagerly awaits his reunion with his father.

A number of those who watch GENERAL HOSPITAL are saying on social media that they cannot wait until the Cassadine father and son get together because there are sure to be fireworks. Nikolas may have to choose between his son and his marriage if the divorce papers have not already been filed. Will Ava seek revenge on her stepson for all the pain he has caused and will Spencer lead her to finalize the divorce from Nikolas?

What will Trina do when she finds out that her mystery man is a Cassadine Prince and can she forgive him? Could it be impossible for father and son to reconnect because of all the damage that has been done and what is really at the root of Spencer's recent actions?
