Hallmark Actresses

I love Hallmark movies and I have some favorite actors and actresses. I wish I could list all of them, but I narrowed it down to my top 5 Hallmark actresses.

1. Lacey Chabert

Lacey Chabert with Cotton Candy Voice

It seems as if Lacey Chabert was born to act on the Hallmark Channel even though she had made many movies before her first movie on Hallmark in 2010. I am not the only one who likes her acting. Television personality Dr. Phil McGraw said he has watched all of her Hallmark Christmas movies.

The New York Post and others refer to her as the "Queen of Hallmark Christmas Movies." Some people say she has a cotton candy voice. It certainly is distinctive, and it draws you into whatever she says.

No matter which movie Lacey appears in, viewers can always expect a happy ending like her marriage to businessman David Nehdar. The couple got married on December 22, 2013. Their only child named Julia Mimi Bella Nehdar was born on September 1, 2016.

2. Candace Cameron Bure

Candace Cameron Bure - "Queen of Christmas"

Candace Cameron Bure is at the top of most viewers' lists. She has acted in 29 Hallmark movies since her first one in 2008. Some people call her the "Queen of Christmas" because about half of her movies are Christmas movies. My favorite Christmas movie is Journey Back to Christmas which premiered in 2016. I have watched it three times. Hanna, played by Bure, is caught up in the Christmas Comet that appeared for the first time in 70 years. The entire movie involves Hanna finding her way back home when the comet returns.

Candace and Russian NHL hockey player Valeri Bure married on June 22, 1996. They have three children: daughter Natasha, born in August 1998, son Lev, born in February 2000, and son Maksim, born in January 2002.

3. Alexa PenaVega

Alexa PenaVega

Alexa PenaVega made my top 5 list not because she has been acting on the Hallmark Channel since 2014, and not because she has made 10 Hallmark movies. I included her because of the chemistry that she and her real-life husband have in five of her 10 movies. Alexa said there's something special about working with her spouse.

I like seeing her and Carlos PenaVega act together in their Picture Perfect Mysteries. I am sorry their series has been canceled.

I admire the couple because they can work well together as well as compete against each other. I am referring to when the husband and wife competed on ABC's Dancing with the Stars during Season 21 in 2015. Alexa and her professional dance partner, Mark Ballas, finished in sixth place. Carlos and his dance partner, Witney Carson, finished in fourth place being eliminated just before the finals.

The PenaVegas enjoy working and competing together. They still have time to spend with their three sons: Ocean King, born on December 7, 2016, Kingston James, born on June 30, 2019, and Rio Rey, born on May 7, 2021.

4. Holly Robinson Peete

Holly Robinson Peete

Holly Robinson Peete is one of the oldest actresses on the Hallmark Channel and she is still open to new roles and assignments. On March 24, 2022, it was announced that the 57-year-old actress had signed a multi-picture deal with Crown Media Family Networks for exclusivity on holiday movies. That means Holly will continue to make original Christmas movies as she has done in the past.

What I admire about Holly is that she takes on roles and makes them mirror her personal life. She is a mother of four children: fraternal twins, daughter Ryan Elizabeth Peete and Rodney Jackson Peete, Jr. When one of the twins, Rodney Jr. was only three years old, Holly found out that he was autistic. He is now 24 years old.

Therefore, it is not strange that Holly was in the role of a loving mother in Our Christmas Journey which aired on December 3, 2021. She used the same tender, patient, and motherly style with 17-year-old autistic actor Nik Sanchez as she has been accustomed to using while raising her own autistic son.

5. Autumn Reeser

Autumn Reeser

I have seen Autumn Reeser perform in Hallmark movies for many years. However, I began liking her acting even more after she appeared with Lacey Chabert and Alison Sweeney in The Wedding Veil trilogy that aired over three dates: January 8, February 12, and February 19, 2022.

Autumn appeared in all three movies, but she acted center stage in the second one, The Wedding Veil Unveiled where she played the part of Emma who traveled to Italy to teach a class and to research the history of the wedding veil. While there, she met Paolo, the son of a local lace-making family. They fell in love and got married.

Not Listed

Danica McKellar would have ranked #2 on my list, but she is no longer on the Hallmark Channel. She is now on the GAC Family Channel. I still like her performances, but I chose actresses who are still making Hallmark movies.
