Carlos and Alexa PenaVega: Hallmark Husband and Wife

Some people say they would not like to work on the same job with their spouse. Fortunate for Hallmark viewers, that is not the case for husband and wife Carlos and Alexa PenaVega.

Carlos and Alexa have worked in separate movies, but it is a real treat to see them work together in the same movies. So far, they have performed together in five movies. The couple also shares a YouTube channel, LexLovesLos.

Last Name

Alexa was previously married to film producer Sean Covel from 2010 to 2012. She became engaged to the actor and singer Carlos Pena in 2013.

When a couple gets married, usually the wife takes the husband's last name. Some female celebrities don't change their last name after marriage. However, there is an interesting and romantic story about Carlos and Alexa's last name.

The couple got married on January 4, 2014. That was the same year Alexa started her Hallmark career. Carlos' last name was Pena. Alexa's maiden name was Vega. They decided to combine their last names to express more unity in their marriage.

For the last eight years, they have been using PenaVega as their official last name. They have two sons Ocean King PenaVega born on December 7, 2016, and Kingston James PenaVega born on June 30, 2019. They also have a daughter, Rio Rey PenaVega born on May 7, 2021.

Alexa PenaVega

Alexa, 33, started her acting career in 1993. Alexa had some movie credits from CBS, HBO, and Lifetime before she started acting on the Hallmark Channel in 2014. So far, she has starred in 10 Hallmark movies, and five of them were with her husband in Picture Perfect Mysteries. Sadly, that Hallmark series has been canceled.

Carlos PenaVega

Carlos, 32, started his acting career in 2004. His first Hallmark movie was with his wife. It Enchanted Christmas which premiered on November 12, 2017.

Carlos also appeared in the second movie Love at Sea in 2018 with his wife. The setting for that movie is on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. It even featured the couple's oldest son Ocean. Carlos told TV Insider that Hallmark knew Ocean was going to be with them on the set, so they wrote a few brief scenes for him to be in.

Other than those two movies, Carlos appeared with his wife in three Picture Perfect Mysteries from 2019 through 2o2o.

Alexa told TV Insider that she loves working with her husband because they really know about each other's limits. She added that there's something really special about getting to work with your spouse.

The PenaVegas on "Dancing with the Stars"

Alexa and Carlos competed during Season 21 of Dancing with the Stars in 2015. Alexa and her professional dance partner, Mark Ballas, were eliminated in Week 11 on November 9. They finished the competition in 6th place.

Carlos also competed on Dancing with the Stars that same season. He and his professional dance partner, Witney Carson, went further than his wife and her partner. Carlos and Witney reached the finals, but they were eliminated during the finale after ending up in fourth place.

After the season was over, both Alexa and Carlos said their experience on the ABC popular dance competition show was the hardest and most fulfilling experience they’ve ever had.

Carlos and Alexa have more in common than just acting together, performing on a popular dance competition show, and being proud parents of three young children. They are also singers.

Carlos studied musical theater at the Boston Conservatory. He plays the piano and sings. He was a member of the band, Big Time Rush. He released his first solo single in Spanish on February 4, 2014, before he began acting on the Hallmark Channel. Alexa also sings and has also recorded some albums.
