My Review of "The Boys: Season 3"
What a heck of a wild ride this season was!
The Boys: Season 3 has finally concluded this weekend and man was it a wild ride. They really didn't hold back on anything this season. My only complaint was that there weren't more episodes! I guess that's not really a complaint but whatever.
The season starts off right from where season 2 left off. Stormfront has been outed to be a Nazi sympathizer and killed in battle. Homelander's son has been taken away from him. The gang are now contractors for the government. I guess they're all working within the system now rather than as vigilantes.
One of their main tasks has been pretty much their goal for the last 3 seasons and that was to take down Homelander. Homelander is becoming more and more dangerous as he's starting to become unhinged. His political power is growing and the obstacles in the way of world domination are quickly dwindling.
Obviously this means the gang have to go to more drastic measures to take down Homelander. This includes trying to find a weapon that can kill an all powerful being. The only reference to such a power is back in the day when an all powerful being known as Soldier Boy was killed in battle decades ago.
This means that the crew has to investigate what had killed Soldier Boy and use whatever it was that killed him and use it against Homelander. What we get is an unbelievable season with the craziest story twists. These twists are big and plentiful.
Even better all of these situations are somewhat relatable as we see a lot of these situations play out in real life. This connection makes this season even more relevant since casual viewers have a reference point as to how things might play out. Of course things could never get as crazy as this show but we can see that even though this wacky world we're watching is so nuts, it's not that different from the world we live in today.
I loved how they melded a lot of the story together. They did mention some of the older superheroes in previous seasons but never got to it. This gave me a Marvel feel to the series as you can tell that a lot of the things that happened in the past came to fruition in this season. A lot of attention and care was taken when they made this series and you can tell as the storyline progressed from season 1 to 3.
More things that get added to the mix is the temporary compound V solution that gives people temporary super human powers. This is a big factor in a lot of the season. There's still discussion about the morality of using this solution but they didn't dive too much into it.
This and a couple new game changer rules have been added to this season that will have everyone's interest in the show rejuvenated. It feels like they're really developing this new world of theirs and I love what they're doing with it. Their world seems like it's starting to go into utter chaos.
The season was also broken into weekly episode releases. It's been a while since I was really looking forward to weekly episodes from a series. These guys did a great job in keeping my anticipations high and exceeding my expectations.
Overall, by the end of the season we see that there are a ton of winners but still a ton of certainty for the next season. It was a very satisfying conclusion to a spectacular season. I have to give this season an 8.5 out of 10. There is so much to love about this season. Start it from the very beginning if you haven't started this series yet. It's definitely worth your while.
