Martin Milner and Kent Mccord: Life after Adam 12

Fans continue to celebrate these actors and their popular television show.

Adam 12 was an American television police procedural drama that ran from September 1968 through September 1975. Each episode follows Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers Pete Malloy (Martin Milner) and Jim Reed (Kent McCord) as they ride the streets of LA in their patrol unit, 1-Adam-12. Each episode was based on actual case files and two episodes of the series can currently be seen Monday through Friday from 5:00-6:00 PM EST on MeTV.

Milner was born on December 28, 1931, in Detroit, Michigan, and after Adam 12 he starred in the television version of The Swiss Family Robinson from 1975-1976 as Karl Robinson. He guest-starred on many television series including Airwolf, RoboCop: The Series, MacGyver, and Murder She Wr In 1983, Milner hosted a morning radio wake-up show on KOGO AM 600 in San Diego.

In 1990, Milner and McCord worled together again in the cable TV-movie Nashville Beat aired on the now-defunct Nashville Network. The story, was co-written by McCord, the duo once again portrayed LA police officers who were partners. In 1992, Milner guest-starred on five episodes of ABC's Life Goes On and after retiring he co-hosted a radio show abiut fishing called "Let's Talk Hook-Up" that aired on XETRA AM 690 a San Diego-area sports station XETRA AM 690 (now XEWW).

In 1998, the former actor produced the documentary film Route 66: Return to the Road with Martin Milner. This was a trubute to the show where Milner once was a co-stared. The documentary featured Milner in a 1961 Corvette traveling pn the highway from Chicago to Santa Monica.

In May 1956, Milner met singer and actress Judith Bess Jones at a Hollywood dinner party. They were married on February 23, 1957 in Waukegan, Illinois and had four children. The Milner's oldest daughter Amy, who appeared in an episode of Adam 12, was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in February 2003 and died in December 2004.

Martin Milner passed away on September 6, 2015, at age 83 from heart failure at his home in Carlsbad, California. He was cremated and his memorial service was held by community members and law enforcement on September 13.

Kent McCord

Kent Franklin McWhirter was born September 26, 1942 and is known by his stage name of Kent McCord. In 1972 McCord was elected to the national board of directors of the Screen Actors Guild and remained on the board for 11 years. He was also the first national vice president while a member of the National Board of Directors.

In 1980, he portrayed Troy on the television series Galactica 1980 and was Mr. Unger on Airplane II: The Sequel, in 1982. McCord co-starred on the crime drama Unsub in 1989 and re-teamed with Martin Milner, in the TV-movie Nashville Beat in 1990. That same year he appeared as Captain Pilgrim in the film Predator 2 and was John Reynolds in Return of the Living Dead 3 (1993).

The 1990s and beyond

From 1994 to 1995, McCord had the recurring role of Scott Keller on SeaQuest DSV and appeared in three episodes of JAG. He became a semi-regular guest star on Farscape, where he portrayed two versions of the same character, Jack Crichton, one human, and one alien. He also landed a role on the series Renegade as Deputy U.S. Marshal Jack Hendricks. He was also in the movies Illicit Behavior Criminal Intent and A woman's Story. McCord married Cynthia Lee Doty in 1962 and they have 3 children,

McCord and Milner will always be fondly remembered as Pet Mallow and Jim Reed who were kind and compassionate police officers.
