April 1st 1990

Lily Potter sat shaken, she was shaking from the nasty letter she had just received from an owl only five minutes before. It was from Professor Dumbledore. It read

Dear, James and lily

This may come as a shock to you, but there is word going around that you are in danger. I know James has a secret keeper to keep everyone safe, but I am afraid word got out. I would advise you to go into hiding at this point because if it gets out to Voldemort you might not have a chance. Please send by owl if you choose to have my help, I can promise you then that your family will be safe.

-Dumbledore

Lily Potter had read the letter many times, but she did not send any letter back because she knew that their secret keeper would never tell. But then again did little Peter Pettigrew that always followed James, Sirius, and lupin around really have a mind of his own? In school, lily had found him many times by himself going on about something. She never trusted him, but her husband trusted him with all his heart, so she did too. For the next couple hours lily Potter did not know what to do, she was contemplating on getting James home and telling him he was a huge bundle at work so it would take hours. But how long did they really have? Hours? Minutes? Of course she didn't know. After all it was the dark lord who is after her family.

As Lily prepared her night meals for the next day she worked on getting Harry to eat for himself and then took him to the park along with his sister. It was a nice quiet time, the wind was very light and the trees danced. She could almost just forget the stress of Dumbledore’s letter. But not completely. At almost six o’clock Lily got her kids, and went on the long walk home. She was scared to see anything wrong when she got there, but when she did the house was the same as she left two hours earlier. As Lily settled down the kids and got them ready for bed she finally heard the sound of a door opening then

“Lily I'm home!”

James Potter was walking up the staircase to her, she suddenly got overwhelmed with emotions and ran to him. James caught her and held her for a second while she cried.

“Lily baby, what's wrong? Is the kid okay?” she nodded.

“Then what is it?” it took a minute or two before Lily could get the strength to tell him. She was so afraid that he might just let it go. James Potter was a good example of a show off. He was very silly and played a lot of tricks. At school they both were the class clowns, but James never really grew up.

Finally she pushed off of him and went downstairs to the living room to get the letter. He followed her and by the time he got there his face read it all.

“You know?” Lily asked.

He nodded, taking the letter and reading it.

“What should we do James? It's...you know who...he could be on his way here now. I was trying not to worry you at work today that's why I'm showing it to you now”.

Lily watched her husband move frantically around the house for a quill and parchment. James was writing words on the parchment so fast Lily watched over him, not talking. Once he was done he sighed the letter and gave it to the owl by him. He looked over at Lily next and said.

“We have to go, go get the kids and pack some bags. Dumbledore is right we have no chance at this alone and I don't want to see the end to this outcome”. “We are leaving in 10 minutes okay? Stay here get things ready I have to go and see Lupin and Sirius”.

“But James I don't want to be left alone!” Lily said desperately. James always made Lily feel safe. 's he just grabbed her shoulders and kissed her.

“I will never let anything touch you okay?” he said so strongly, so brave Lily kissed him back and ran upstairs. Downstairs, James ran for his and lily's wand and made sure that when she came down they would be ready to leave. But three minutes passed and lily still had not come downstairs. Getting worried, James slowly walked up the stairs very slowly.

“Lily are you okay?” James asked. His voice was weak. The kids rooms were just off to the left of the stairs. Someone has to be In here. But lily was not in the room, she was nowhere.

“Lily! Where are you!” James screamed. Both of the kids were asleep in their beds. James ran to his closet and pulled out his invisibility cloak. Picking up the kids very gently, to not wake them up. James placed them in the closet putting the cloak on them both, they would be safe until someone came for them. Hopefully it would be him or lily.

From the room below, James heard the sound of someone apparated. James held his wand up high and slowly walked down the stairs to the kitchen.

“Lily? Is that you? James said.

“James? It's me Sirius. Relief spread in James lungs, heart and head. Running to the kitchen he saw Sirius, his face was marked with worry. Both of the friends has looked at each other that night and both could see. Lily was missing, and at this point all hope rested on James. But James did not know where to look.

“The kids are upstairs safe. But I can find her Sirius. She is missing” James was losing it at this point. He wanted to kill anyone who came in his way to find her. But what good would that do? James was lost without her.

“Will we find her okay?” said Sirius. But finding, she didn't have to do. Because to the next moment three means a parted before them. One of which had Lily in a headlock with a wand on her throat.

“Well, well. We thought for sure taking your precious wife would get you to at least come outside. But I see you had to cry first” said the man holding Lily. Anger was rising through James. He wanted to rip the guys throats off. But lily was there and she looked so scared.

“Let my wife go you scum!” said James.

“ I will only let her go if you hand over your son. His name is Harry right?” the man said in a sneer. Suddenly Lily spoke up

“James, don't give him Harry or the puppy. We can't lose the puppies. James please!'' The man looked confused.

“what does she mean puppy!?” he yelled. James only looked at Lily in shock. It was short for, don't tell them we have a little girl. They would kill her if they knew.

The next five minutes has been a very big blur for James. Even years down the road he can not remember much. So many spells were being thrown around. James and lily had fought side by side that night, in their very own kitchen with their kids crying upstairs. But no amount of pain was released till it was over. James had run to the stars to make sure no one went upstairs to the kids. James would've protected them for his life. Everyone was there, Sirius, lupin, the Weasleys. Even Dumbledore. But in the end they won. Or so they thought. Because once the death eaters had left the house of fright. Lily Potter lay dead on the floor only inches from her husband. She had run in front of the killing curse to stop them from taking harry. And got hit instead, that night. Voldemort lost his power to a little one year old. But also that night, James Potter had lost the love of his life. His kids will never remember her, and everyone will forget her after years go by. But James Potter lives on, and takes care of his kids now. All by himself, or course with the help of Sirius black too.

Present day

Emily Potter laid in bed, hoping that she would go downstairs to see birthday presents. Her bedroom was a round room that had every inch of her favorite quidditch team, The Irish Leopards. On the wall closest to the door she has a desk that her favorite uncle Sirius Black made float so she could move it wherever. And on the next to it is a calendar with her family on it. Mom, dad, brother and her 2 uncles. It was late August now, the trees outside had shaken all of its leaves off. The sky was never clear anymore, just lots of rainfall. To Emily it made her life seem boring and sad, but today was her birthday and she knew that today was going to be great.

Pulling herself out of bed, Emily went to the bathroom to clean up. Emily Potter turns 11 today, she was short for her age. But her father always tells her she will catch up one day. She has light brown hair. Almost gold when the sun is on it, and green eyes that feel as if you're walking into a forest.

“Alright body, it's time to grow into your nose and ears please” said Emily talking to her reflection. Never in a million years did she think that she would get to this point in life. But she didn't want to be excited yet, because she had a bad habit of getting her hopes up and then getting disappointed. Once her hair was brushed and her teeth cleaned she went down stairs to the kitchen.

Her father James Potter always had a thing for tricks and laughing, so that is why their house (from the outside) looks like only it had one bed and one bathroom. Emily's bedroom is located in what the muggles would call the basement, along with her brother Harry's and her father's. One bathroom sits down there but the rest of the house on the main level. The living room is small but has these huge red and purple comfy couches that lay flat if you tell them too. Along the next wall is the dining room where they only eat. I'd everyone come over, and then the kitchen. The kitchen is very big, and has many cabinets, and self stirring pots and pans. The house was lined with magical instruments everywhere. But that is what Emily loved about it so much, you could definitely call it home.

When Emily walked into the kitchen her uncle Sirius was sitting reading the daily profit.

“Hi uncle Sirius!” said Emily, running to hug him.

“Well how is my favorite birthday girl this morning?” Emily blushed.

“Good, just nervous. Harry got his letter already by this time last year” which was true. Harry had woken up to the letter already at the door. But lily was not. She was really worried she was not going to get to go to Hogwarts.

“It's going to come kid, you are a Potter and not Potter will never not get their letter!”. She only nodded and went to get some food in her system. Sirius Black was a funny man, he had very untidy hair and a bread that went to his chest. His eyes were dark brown, almost black. And he never wore good looking clothes, always dirty and old. Emily has suggested buying him clothes, but he always turns her down. He says

“Cloths are not important to me, I have my family. That is all I need to be me”. Whatever that means. He went to school with James Potter and they both were the best of friends. Probably is the reason they still talk today.

Emily decided on a big muffin and sat down next to her uncle.

“So, any news at the ministry? “ she asked, trying to make conversation.

“Not really, just some idiots almost got exposed to the Muggles yesterday. Mr. Weasley had to cover up the story. I bet he is tired this morning”.

Mr. And Mrs. Weasley were also family to Emily. She had finally meant them last year when she went with her dad to take Harry to the train. Emily happened to just have a great track from a hoke week there not too long ago. Her best friend Ginny is the youngest just like her, and the only girl. But her family is huge. She has six older brothers. The two oldest are Bill and Charlie. But they are already out of Hogwarts. Emily has never meant them before, but Ginny says that Charlie works with dragons and they go to see him a lot. Next is Percy, he is in his 5th year of Hogwarts right now and is trying to be head boy. Then there is Fred and George. Emily has of course seen them, they stand out and get along with her dad too. They don't really take anything serious. But Ginny likes them the most, she just won't tell anyone but Emily that. Then there is Ron, who is only one year older than her and in his second year just like Harry is. Harry and Ron are best friends along with Hermione Granger. Although of course Emily has never seen or talked to her. Harry gets mad when she tries to be friends with his friends. Emily has always loved to read, she can never fail to pick up a book and sit down to read forever. Ginny says it's a problem, but she knows that books will take her far.

The clock on the wall read “10:04” Emily's dad James Potter should be home by now. He sometimes works the night shifts and gets home at 10 when Emily and Harry wake up.

“Sirius? Where's dad?” she asked, playing with her hair.

“Should be home…” but he never finished the thought because dad walked into the back door where the kitchen was yelling.

“Lucy, I'm home!!!” he said, smirking.

Emily ran up to him and gave him a hug.

“Dad, my letter! It hasn't come yet...I'm scared what if it doesn't come?”.

But standing there he only smirked. Emily knew that smirk. It was the smirk that she knew he knew something that she didn't.
