Cheryl E PrestonPublished 3 years ago in GeeksHow Jonny Quest Inspired Me
Jonny Quest in the 90s had a couple of different titles, “New Adventures of” or “Real Adventures of” depending on the season and where you lived on Earth, so here I’ll just be referring to it as Jonny Quest and assume I’m discussing the 90’s show. Despite the 2 seasons being very different shows in regards to demographic focus, they both had the same main plots; Scientist dude and his action hero BFF take their kids around the world solving mysteries and fighting monsters and villains of all sorts. It sort of borrowed a lot from the X-Files craze in that regard and helped pave the way for other shows of its type such as the early seasons of Supernatural, Roswell: Aliens, Myths, and Legends, and numerous ghost and paranormal hunter type reality shows and documentaries.

Kristy AndersonPublished 3 years ago in GeeksJordan may have ulterior motives where Faith is concerned on 'The Young and the Restless'
Fans of The Young and the Restless are expressing concern about the direction that Faith Newman seems to be headed. She has a new older friend named Jordan who is pushing her in all the wrong directions. This BFF has Faith lying to her parents and hanging out at parties where they would not want her to be. Faith was even wearing a provocative outfit that Nick and Sharon would not approve of. She is being cyberbullied because of the story Billy published about Adam kidnapping her. Jordan pretends to be a friend, but some viewers think she could be behind all the mischief. Perhaps this older girl is jealous of the life Faith lives because she is a Newman. Whatever her ulterior motives, most Y&R viewers believe that she is up to no good.

Gumbel began his affiliation with Today as the program's chief sports reporter contributing twice-weekly features to the program, including a regular series entitled "Sportsman of the Week," featuring up-and-coming athletes. In June 1981, NBC announced that Tom Brokaw would depart Today to anchor the NBC Nightly News with Roger Mudd beginning in the spring of 1982. The search for Brokaw's replacement was on, and the initial candidates were all NBC News correspondents, including John Palmer, Chris Wallace, Bob Kur, Bob Jamieson, and Jessica Savitch. The candidates auditioned for Brokaw's job throughout the summer of 1981 when he was on vacation. Gumbel became a candidate for the job just by chance when he served as a last-minute substitute for Today co-anchor Jane Pauley in August 1981. He so impressed executive producer Steve Friedman and other NBC executives that he quickly became a top contender for the Today anchor position.
3 Great Movies Adapted From Books (Pt.3)
When on my M.A for film and writing, I developed a way of looking at adaptations that made it possible to rate how effective the adaptation from the book was. Here are the three maxims if you will, that I developed:

A Filmmaker's Guide to: Monodrama
In this chapter of ‘the filmmaker’s guide’ we’re actually going to be learning about literature and film together. I understand that many of you are sitting in university during difficult times and finding it increasingly hard to study and I understand that many of you who are not at university or not planning on it are possibly stuck of what to do, need a break or even need to catch up on learning film before you get to the next level. This guide will be brief but will also contain: new vocabulary, concepts and theories, films to watch and we will be exploring something taboo until now in the ‘filmmaker’s guide’ - academia (abyss opens). Each article will explore a different concept of film, philosophy, literature or bibliography/filmography etc. in order to give you something new to learn each time we see each other. You can use some of the words amongst family and friends to sound clever or you can get back to me (email in bio) and tell me how you’re doing. So, strap in and prepare for the filmmaker’s guide to film studies because it is going to be one wild ride.
Annie KapurPublished 3 years ago in GeeksThe Social Network (2010)
In this article, we will be looking at 2019’s book “1001 Movies to See Before You Die” and going through each film in a random order that I have chosen. We will be looking at what constitutes this film to be on the list and whether I think this film deserves to be here at all. I want to make perfectly clear that I won’t be revealing details from this book such as analyses by film reporters who have written about the film in question, so if you want the book itself you’ll have to buy it. But I will be covering the book’s suggestions on which films should be your top priority. I wouldn’t doubt for a second that everyone reading this article has probably watched many of these movies anyway. But we are just here to have a bit of fun. We’re going to not just look at whether it should be on this list but we’re also going to look at why the film has such a legacy at all. Remember, this is the 2019 version of the book and so, films like “Joker” will not be featured in this book and any film that came out in 2020 (and if we get there, in 2021). So strap in and if you have your own suggestions then don’t hesitate to email me using the address in my bio. Let’s get on with it then.
Annie KapurPublished 3 years ago in GeeksReview of ‘Divided Fire’
Divided Fire is an exciting fantasy that powerfully utilizes sign language. Interesting Premise Filippo did an incredible job of incorporating sign language into her storytelling. It was incredible to see this group of people highlighted powerfully and compellingly. Kesia does not have a voice for most of the novel; her power kept secret by her sister, causing her to feel defeated and without a voice. However, when she uses her Song to defend others and fight for captives and slaves just like herself, she grows and learns to find her inner strength through her use of sign language.
