According to News.Okaukart.com, OWN has renewed Greenleaf for a fifth season. At this point no official information has come from the network itself and there are no updates on the Facebook page. What is being suggested is that new episodes probably will not air until around September 2020. There were only 10 episodes in season four, which caused fans to fee shortchanged. Speculation continues as to what will happen next year, but in the meantime, here are some interesting facts about some of the cast.

Merle Dandridge who portrays Grace was born in Okinawa Japan, to a Korean mother and African American father. Soap fans may recognize her from the now defunct daytime dramas Guiding Light and All My Children.

Lynn Whitfield is matriarch Lady Mae Greenleaf. She was born in Baton Rouge Louisiana to a black father and a Creole mother. This versatile actress is best known for the lead role The Josephine Baker Story.

Keith David was born in the Harlem district of New York. He may be familiar to viewers because he was in the blockbuster Platoon and the hit comedy Barbershop. He portrays Bishop Greenleaf the family patriarch,

Deborah Joy Winans portrays Charity Greenleaf the youngest daughter. Deborah is the daughter of Carvin and Deborah Winans. She is the niece of BeBe and CeCe Winans, and pastor Marvin Winans is her father's twin brother.

Desiree Ross was raised in Columbia South Carolina. On Greenleaf she is Sophia, the daughter of Grace. Her face may be recognizable because she starred opposite Dolly Parton in A Country Christmas.

Lammon Rucker was born in Pittsburg Pennsylvania and portrays Jacob Greenleaf, the oldest child of the Bishop and Lady Mae. He was on All my Children and has been in several Tyler Perry movies and television programs.

Kim Hawthorne is Karissa Greenleaf. She was born in Jersey City New Jersey. She has acted on the daytime drama's Another World and All My Children. She also was on In the Heat of the Night for three episodes.

Lovie Simone was born in New York City and portrays Zora, the daughter of Jacob and Karissa. She has done commercials for J C Penny and voice overs.

Beau Bridges potrays Bob Whitmore. His full name is Loyd Vernet Bridges III, being named after his famous father. He has acted in many movies including Norma Rae, The Other Side of Midnight and National Velvet.

Jacob Gibson portrays Grace's son A.J. He has acted in Blairsdon and Greys Anatomy. No other information is available about this actor.

Kevin Curry is the unknown young man who resembled AJ and showed up at the end of the season finale.

Sean Blakemore portrays Phil and may be recognized for his General Hospital role as Shawn Butler. He has been in a number of movies that have aired on TVOne and also had roles in the TV shows NCIS, The Shield, ER, Cold Case and Bones.

Regarding the season finale, there are a lot of rumors floating around and a few could be debunked. Some Greenleaf viewers believe Curry’s character is the real AJ but of this is true then where has he been all this time? The Greenleaf estate is several miles from the main road so where did he come from and did he really walk that far? If this were truly Grace’s son, why did he simply walk away and where would he be going? It’s interesting that AJ showed up in church on all white and this young man was in dark colors. The episode had an air of the supernatural about it, but unless the answers are leaked, viewers will have to wait until next year. This is one of the best cliffhangers since people wondered who shot JR Ewing on Dallas in the 1980's. It would be nice if the program came back in the spring of 20/20 instead of the fall. Decades ago television programs ran from fall to late spring and you only had reruns in the summer. Stay tuned and stay woke because the answers will surely come.
